Higher education student and staff mobility project

Among the priorities established in the educational project of ESAD-Galicia is internationalization and knowledge transfer. Thus it contributes to economic and social development of Vigo and its surroundings which aims to ensure the prosperity of the autonomous community long term. One of its objectives is to promote collaborations between departments both nationally and internationally. In line with this objective ESAD Galicia focus its international activities on the mobility of students and teachers or non-teaching staff in establishing strategic alliances and knowledge with third countries and internationalization in the center. CONTEXT/BACKGROUND: Our institution is quite young in mobility programs for staff and students. The geographical situation of Galicia has tradition of collaboration with Portugal and other lusophone countries. In the cultural and educational field our region was always open to other cultures and languages due immigration. ESAD Galicia is 10 years old and the Department of International Relations is running its 3rd year. OBJECTIVES: 1. Continue actively participating in the Bologna process. 2. Create an environment of study that internationalization is present and regularly disclose this profile. 3. Encourage periods of study and practice in a foreign country, in order to develop intercultural skills, learn from other educational and scientific systems, master another language, develop communication skills and acquire skills to function in international environments. 4. Expand the agreements signed with EU and non-EU centers as well as agreements with companies and entities related to the Performing Arts. 5. Promote the benefits of the program within the ESAD Galicia and support departments and academic staff not only in conducting mobilities but also in the creation and implementation of international projects with other countries. 6. Ensuring equal opportunities for all participants in international programs, paying particular attention to students from lower socioeconomic levels. 7. Implement the monitoring and evaluation to ensure systematic strengths and improve on weaknesses to achieve thus meeting the objectives of internationalization. PARTICIPANTS: The students, selected with equal opportunities for all participants, were really motivated in the experiences of new techniques and approaching from other cultures to Theatre. Their profile was adults (>18) looking for a studies and practices in a foreign country, in order to develop intercultural skills, learn from other educational and theatrical systems, master another language, develop communication skills and acquire skills to function in international environments as well as looking for long-term benefits as new job abroad. The staff, also selected with public and equal rules, were also very interested in exchanging knowledge, experiences... with other colleagues and also learning new techniques or "know how". Most of the teachers are Junior (short experience in the field of education) motivated in improve their selves acquiring new information... or also having the experience of teaching their subject in other culture or language. RESULTS AND IMPACT: 1. Establishment of an increasing number of agreements with European partners. 2. Progressive increase participation in number and type of mobilities. 3. Increased quality of mobility by developing procedures that guarantee. 4. Development of international workshops that have allowed to acquire linguistic skills and cross. 5. Expansion of internationalization at all levels of the center not only in higher education studies. 6. Implementation of an innovation project whose primary objective is related to internationalization and the acquisition of language skills 7. Full implementation of ECTS system 8. Extension of practices at international level. LONG-TERM BENEFITS: 1. Development of Pedagogy and Techniques in learning 2. Acknowledgement in the use and develop of communication skills in other languages 3. Progressive implementation of ECTS system 4. Increased number of agreements with European partners. New ideas for co-working. Synergies 5. Realization of international workshops that have allowed to acquire linguistic skills and theatrical knowledge 6. Practices at international level 7. Expansion of internationalization: our institution abroad 8. Implementation of an innovation project whose primary objective is related to internationalization and the acquisition of language skills 9. Consciousness of the role of Culture and Theatre in our society
