The vision and the internationalization strategy of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland form the background of this project. Vision of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland: "We are an international university; we regard the cultural diversity among students, teachers, researchers and staff as important and support the international experience of students and staff through our international network (semester abroad, internships abroad, international research cooperation). We systematically extend the international and intercultural focus of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland and intensify international networking with universities and enterprises in quantitative and qualitative terms". Since 1993, the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland offers courses with an international focus. From the beginning, during the period of establishing the study programs, great importance was attached to internationalization and creation of a European partner network in order to provide students with the opportunity of study and training periods abroad. By participating in the European mobility programs these objectives were successfully implemented. Based on this profile internationalization activities of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland include following measures: ? international teaching and learning environment with an increased proportion of regular students from abroad, especially in the Master's degree programs ? student and staff mobility ? student internships ? international excursions and CEE Summer language courses and as a part of curriculum ? Summer Schools at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland ? international conferences and international weeks at both campuses of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland ? international research projects ? a PhD program in cooperation with the Universities of Bratislava, Sopron and Pula with an international focus. Our values - responsibility, humanity, reliability, partnership, joy, openness, flexibility and forward-looking approach serve as broad guidelines in the international strategy of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. The university aims to convey these values to international exchange students and full-time students and thus contribute to their successful study period. International students shall recommend the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland as a competent partner for education and research to other students, family members and friends as well as teachers and researchers and other relevant multipliers in their home countries. International exchange students are provided with multi-faceted support (Orientation Program, German Language Course, Intercultural Communication etc.) at the beginning of their studies in order to guarantee a good relationship with the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland. This supports a possible returning of students to the institution as regular students or researchers/teachers. In addition to the activities related directly with international students the individual departments and divisions of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland are encouraged to support the internationalization of the institution. This is achieved by a broad offer on courses conducted in English, international events, teachers and staff with international CVs, guest lecturers, field trips, etc. The research field as well is associated with a large proportion of internationalization. The expertise gained from research and development EU funded projects with international partners forms the scientific basis and international approach of the teaching. The international activities of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland are directly connected to the Erasmus + Program (besides CEEPUS program and the so-called "Actions" for co-operation with the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary). In the academic year 2014/15, a total of 63 Erasmus + Outgoing (5 STA, 3 STT, 17 SMS, 38 SMT) mobilities were supported. The activities described below are the result of many years of consistent internationalization of the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland where the Erasmus program has been playing an important role for more than 20 years.
