Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Nowadays universities face demands and challenges of modern society with a constantly changing future. Therefore, since our beginning we have bet in quality, efficiency and excellence, as well as innovation necessities, to develop a knowledge community with tools for improving and adapting to new situations and demands. We live in a globalized community where previous barriers have disappeared. Consequently, many other opportunities have arisen. As a result, we believe that academic mobility projects can encourage our students and professionals to obtain a wider view by providing them with different skills in their personal and professional development. Skills like greater autonomy and teamwork, which enrich and enhance personal values and increase interpersonal and social skills by improving their ability to interact in a multicultural environment through sharing capacities and knowledge. Despite a challenging employment climate in the wake of the economic crisis, Erasmus+ have received additional attention and structural and academic reform, at Rey Juan Carlos University, within the last years. One area of key focus has been to enhance international cooperation projects in teaching and training opportunities for students, faculties and staff members. In that respect, a number of initiatives, think tanks, discussion groups, research projects, reports and publications have been conducted from the Vice-rectorate for International Relations in cooperation with each faculty. Our project request was done under real figures of foreseen mobilities, so the level of implementation was very high. We had focus in the mobility of students for studies, which is the activity that moves the majority number of people, continued by the mobilty for trainships and finally mobility for staff. The final connection was: -SMS 487 participants -SMT 113 participants -STA 38 participants -STT 11 participants The results achieved have been very positive, and the participants demonstrate, through the EU survey, the satisfaction at an academic and personal level. We intend to maintain the situation and we hope to increase the number of participants, because each year our regular students are raised in a 20%. We want to create among our University Community, an international atmosphere, in our campus with the reception of our incoming students and also outside giving the opportunity to participate in the Erasmus+ programme.
