Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Context-Background: The project has been implemented during a significant departmental restructure which has seen a temporary reduction of staff resource available for study abroad. Objectives: 47 mobilities were requested and 17 were achieved. Number and type/Profile of participants: a higher number of females engage on exchange programmes which we would expect as we have a higher proportion of females enrolled at UCA. The report has highlighted a low representation from disadvantaged backgrounds or participants with special needs, so we will be working to increase the participation in these areas by working with colleagues in our Widening Participation and Library & Student Services teams. Description of undertaken activities: Study Placements, monitoring visits, promotional material, promotional talks, welcome events, promotion at Open Days and fresher fair Results and impact attained: We are pleased with the overall satisfaction results for outbound (94% satisfaction) and inbound (89% satisfaction) study abroad students and staff (100% satisfaction). From the testimonials we have received from the study abroad students, the competencies acquired and improved will be invaluable experience. We have been working to improve and automate processes to increase the time available to promote and support the study abroad scheme and will be introducing a mentoring programme so that previous study abroad students can promote the scheme and encourage their peers to consider applying and support those in the process of applying and studying abroad.
