Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project funded staff and student mobility in Europe, and through it a total of 127 beneficiaries were supported (107 students and 20 staff). The funding allocated to Swansea University was for a total of 117 students and 23 staff. The difference between these numbers is down to unavoidable drop out of participants previously recruited (for example students who failed exams at Swansea were unable to progress to the next year of study when they would have been participants. Similarly, last minute changes to the individual circumstances of staff meant that we had 3 fewer participants than we had been funded for.) The funding received through this project has allowed Swansea University to work towards the Internationalisation aims as defined in the University?s Strategic Plan: I1: To grow and maintain international partnerships that will enhance and support our research, teaching and student recruitment ambitions I2: To provide more international opportunities for our student body through increased work/study placements abroad, the delivery of a multi-cultural campus community and curriculum and promoting an understanding of other cultures. I3: To attract more overseas students to Swansea from more countries I4: To grow the quantity, quality and scale of our partnerships with multi-national companies Additionally the funding has allowed us to deliver on the aims of our both our Internationalisation and Student Mobility strategies and it has incentivised both staff and students to participate in an international experience. Enhanced confidence and self-esteem as a result of moving away from friends, family and known support networks to a new and unfamiliar environment where greater self-reliance and independence will be required ? Enhanced employability and career prospects as a result of skills and experiences above. Impact of Staff mobility on participants: ? Enhanced professional profile, particularly within the international arena ? Increased job satisfaction and motivation ? Career development as a result of international experiences, collaborations and joint projects ? Personal and professional development associated with working in a new environment and culture. ?
