Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project was a milestone for Politehnika Pula that marked the entry of our institution into the Erasmus+ family and realization of the first ever student mobility. The most important objective was to sensibilize students on importance of international experience in improving their employability after graduation but also to prepare and train our teaching and administrative staff for the arrival of incoming students. Moreover, the project was an opportunity to learn how to find partner institutions (or companies) having similar degree courses (or business activities) and to screen which activity type and which partner institutions (or companies) and countries are most attractive to our students and staff. In total, we had 3 outgoing students that have undertaken 4-8 month long traineeships in Spanish and Italian start-up companies, while one professor has taken two teaching assignments in a Polish higher education institution. Regarding the inbound activities, we had 5 incoming students from Poland and Romania and 6 visits of professors for teaching from Poland, Romania, Turkey and Finland who gave lectures to our students and we had 4 visits of staff from Polans that came for training. The main activities during duration of the project were: dissemination of Erasmus+ programme opportunities among students and staff in form of informative lectures that were held each semester, training of the teaching staff and implementation of the tutoring scheme (individual lecturing) for incoming students in case where number of foreign students taking some course is less than 5, printing of Erasmus+ promotional materials, networking with foreign companies willing to take our students for traineeships. Now in July 2016, after completion of the project, it results that our students are three times as much interested in taking mobility activities than at the beginning of the project in June 2014. Moreover, the feedback we got from the incoming students tells us they praise our tutoring approach and they state that at our institution they don't feel like mere numbers. This proves that Politehnika Pula has put itself on European map of schools of applied sciences as attractive institution for student mobility for studies as well as staff mobility.
