Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In 2014 University of Applied Sciences iPabo changed its policy towards student mobility. Now that iPabo took part in the Erasmus + KA103, students could go abroad for studies instead of going abroad for an internship, the latter is no longer part of credit mobility at iPabo. With participating in KA 103 the UAS iPabo could facilitate student and staff mobility, and enter into long-term strategic partnerships with European higher education institutes. Seeing as this was our first time participating in an Erasmus project for staff and student mobility, the project was considered a pilot project. Another reason for considering it a pilot was the (former) Executive Board that needed convincing of the importance of internationalisation in general and student mobility for studies in particular. The project was very successful. A new Executive Board understand and underlines the importance of internationalisation. A project group revising the curriculum has embedding internationalisation as one of its five main goals. These more developments were very beneficial for the project as a whole. This also makes the knowledge acquired regarding working with Erasmus+ and the National Agency of great value. The current project runs more smoothly than the first one and a continuing upward tendency for the projects to come is to be expected. The requested amount turned out to be greater than the actualised grant amount. The number and type of participants is: 3 student mobility for studies and 2 staff mobility for teaching. The first reason for the discrepancy between requested and actualised amount was students not meeting the criteria set by the insitution. The second reason was the period set by Erasmus + in which the granted amount could be used. We expected te be able to use the amount for two years, it turned out to be one year. Efforts of the National agency and ourselves to adjust the grant agreement and transport the surplus to another insitution were to no avail due to technical and practical issues. The approved grant amount for staff mobility also turned out to be greater than the amount needed. The main reason for this is staff not being facilitated for staff mobility for teaching and training. Now staff can use the hours spent participating in current and future Erasmus + projects as hours dedicated to their professionalization. The goals of the project were all met. All students obtained 30 ECTS as planned. To teach specific techniques and transfer knowledge on both staff and students of receiving institution was the main goal of the stafmobility carried out in this project.
