Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Any of DHBW Mannheim’s international activity should contribute to the ability of students to move competently in a global working environment. The focus is particularly on the development of intercultural competence. On the one hand, this is promoted by international experience and improved knowledge of foreign languages, on the other hand, through greater integration of foreign visiting students at DHBW Mannheim. Thus, both target groups, outgoings and incomings, are paramount. The Erasmus + programs SMS, SMP and also staff mobility are very important to achieve this intercultural competence development. Furthermore, the institutional cooperation between different universities is promoted, and thus SMS, SMP and staff mobility contribute to the development of the international expertise of the institutions and staff members. The DHBW Mannheim sends and receives only Bachelor students and faculty. Students only come from the fields of business and technology. The medium term goal is to increase the number of participants in SMS and SMP. Especially in SMS, students are often restricted by organizational difficulties when planning a semester abroad. Problems are the recognition of credits completed abroad, as well as at the different time tables between DHBW Mannheim and those at partner institutions. In the long term, it is the goal to reduce these problems in order to achieve an increase in mobility.
