Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

For the University Alfonso X el Sabio, Erasmus + KA103 project is a key tool for achieving the internationalization of the university, enabling all members of the university community, university staff, teachers and students full integration with the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) UAX commitment with European programs was clear since its founding in 1994, with the participation in the Erasmus program and since then has remained constant over time, operating at all levels of the university from its main focus at the International Relations Office and the managing of our Vice Rector for International and Institutional Relations Faculties and departmental Erasmus coordinators play a highly importante role at our institution, regarding Erasmus mobilities, as they are responsible for the implementation of the program to a more academic level. The project's main objective is to manage student mobility (study and practice) the mobility of teachers and staff mobility for training with more than 100 partner institutions Erasmus agreements in the European Union with a total of 96 mobilities. During 2014-2015 we see a gradual growth in interest in the mobilities of Erasmus + Practice. The largest number of students was outgoing flow to: Italy, Czech Republic and Portugal. At reception level students, the largest number of incoming students was from Italy, France and Germany. As for the areas where we have had more sending students include: Polytechnic School and Health Sciences, but most of our incoming students are located at the Faculty of Social Studies. Our Erasmus + candidates often choose their destination institutions because of their education systems, curriculum and academic calendar structure and language skills to facilitate their mobility. Our project has met all the requirements of our letter ECHE of non-discrimination, equal opportunities and transparency. Incoming students receive personal attention and equal treatment and the same benefits and opportunities as local students, including exception of payment of academic fees of any kind. Erasmus + seeks the benefit of each participant on the basis of reciprocity. Another benefit of participation in the program is increasing language proficiency for incoming participants. The University Alfonso X el Sabio, offers the possibility to all incoming students to take free Spanish course throughout the academic year, ensuring full language immersion and adaptation to the university community. As a first year in the implementation of the education system, we can say that satisfaction about OLS program has been high and the program has been effective, being highly valued by participants who had the opportunity to benefit from this first call. The STA and STT mobility programs ensure that mobility is extended to all areas and all people of the institution, allowing faculties to generate new linkages and collaborative opportunities with partner universities. Satisfaction levels with this program are always excellent. Overall, the impact of the Erasmus + KA103 program at the institution, is highly positive. Although we have perceived a standstill in growth in the number of participants in the program due, according to our internal analysis, to the severe crisis and the uncertain time now, qualitatively, we can say that the program is more valued than ever, and satisfaction levels are very high. The university maintains a serious commitment to maximize and promote the principles of the Charter and the Erasmus program, as it has brought many benefits to the European university system. The importance of collaboration between universities at European level, must continue to be reinforced and should aspire to greater knowledge transfer. Among our future projects we are studying the the development of joint degrees between our closest partners. Over all, the Erasmus project has been a reference in the design process of new educational plans, models of innovation and good practice and hope to remain so, not only in our institution if not in the whole of Europe.
