Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project aimed at further developing the mobilities of students and personnel (in- & outbound) between our partner institutions in the Erasmus+ programme countries. Learning mobilities for students as well as for staff are crucial in the strategic plan 2012-2017 of University College Ghent. One goal is reaching out for the European 20% target of min. 15 ECTS or min. 3 months. However, University College Ghent also set a 20% target for our graduates to have an international experience abroad by 2016-2017 and to assure an international experience for the other 80% non-mobile graduates. We have been able to ascertain an increase in the mobilities each year: 239 students for 2014-15 versus 214 students in 2013-2014. However, the major increase was in the number of staff mobilitiy: 103 staff members undertook a mobility in 2014-15 versus 58 in 2013-14. The fact that our teaching and administrative staff is taking advantage of the possibilities the Erasmus+ programme is offering, will have a positive impact on the established partnerships and networks but also on further developping a European and international dimension in our curricula. It will be crucial to see if we can maintain this number or even realise more staff mobilities for 2015-16. If so, this might indicate on a shift in the organisation of our faculties in creating 'mobility windows' for staff as well.
