Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

During the project we implemented both of the approved teaching staff mobilities and used up all of the allocated resources for staff mobility. In light of this, the Graduate School of Government and European Studies (GSG) is satisfied with the implementation of teaching staff mobility, since the call for applications for the implementation of pedagogical mobility received applications from three lecturers upon its first publication. Of these, two lecturers took part in the mobility, as permitted by the Grant Agreement. During the project the GSG welcomed 1 person who took part in a teacher exchange. During the project GSG accepted three foreign students for studies via the Erasmus+ Programme. It saw to the arrangement of all of the documents that they needed in order to study here, and to a successful integration into the environment. We maintained constant contact with the aforementioned students. We unfortunately failed to implement the approved student mobility before the end of the project. Despite our continuous efforts to promote the Erasmus Programme, we are encountering a lack of interest in student exchange abroad. It is believed that this situation has occurred because most of the students at GSGare already employed.Due to this we are annually upgrading the promotion of enrolment in undergraduate programmes under the Erasmus+ Programme, as described below. GSG constantly makes sure that students are being taught by lecturers who are top experts and who also possess practical knowledge. It continuously tries to ensure the highest quality study process, lectures and extracurricular activities. The Graduate School hosts various international conferences and summer schools with international attendance. Throughout the project GSG concluded bilateral agreements with new faculties. It enters into new partnerships based on received cooperation offers or with help from lecturers and the dean of the Graduate School. The Graduate School sends all foreign institutions relevant information, which is also accessible on the Graduate School's website. In early 2015, GSG modernised its website www.fds.si. The new website can be viewed in the Slovenian or English language. It is more user-friendly and provides more information for students and staff regarding international mobility, the required information and documents, the conditions that must be met by individuals prior to mobility, and the requirements after mobility has been carried out. With the intention of encouraging students to take part in Erasmus exchanges, we held an Erasmus Open Day in January 2016, where we presented the programme to our students and motivated them to take part in it. We have prepared an information package about exchange at the Graduate School, entitled Info Package for Erasmus Students, which is intended for foreign students. We have also prepared a folded leaflet for foreign students, containing basic information about Erasmus exchange at the Graduate School. GSG publishes the Erasmus Call for Applications on its website, in its e-newsletter, on Facebook, Twitter, and in lecture halls. Of late, the Graduate School also sends the Erasmus Call for Applications to the private e-mail addresses of all students, and publishes it on the new eUniverza portal; it is also sending announcements more frequently. On the English website we published the experience of a foreign female student at the Graduate School, thus contributing to its promotion. The website also contains statements from professors; one of the female professors has produced a video about her cooperation with a faculty in Spain. The professors also share their experiences in person with other professors and students. The Graduate School also promotes the Erasmus+ Programme at various fairs (Informativa 2016, Higher Education and Scholarships Fair in Zagreb, promotion via "Study in Slovenia"). The greatest contribution of the programme to the work of individuals is the development of the professionalism of the International Office and its partnerships with foreign partners, professors and students; the adjustment of existing work methods to new guidelines and to the good practices of partner institutions; and so forth. The greatest contribution of the programme as regards its impact on the institution is the expansion of the networks of partner institutions in the sense of international cooperation within the framework of higher education and scientific and research work. Since the first Erasmus Charter was obtained and up to the present day, the professionalism of the work of the International Office has increased significantly. The Graduate School is also placing more and more emphasis on organising events in foreign languages and preparing various materials, articles, round tables and conferences in English, since it wishes to attract a greater number of interested parties, which would enable it to expand its operation to other international areas and markets.
