Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

At the College of Industrial Engineering, international cooperation and integration into the common European higher education is implemented through student and teacher exchanges, by implementing international quality standards, through cooperation in the EU programmes etc. For this purpose we acquired the Erasmus University Charter, already in the year 2011, which gives the College the possibility to conduct mobility projects. Through participation in the new programme Erasmus+, and after acquiring the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), the College has only enhanced and upgraded its international orientation. Keeping in mind both the importance of the international mobility, and the cooperation that enables a higher quality of both the study programme and the College itself, we: - Constantly improve the study programme by adding an international dimension to it; - Encourage the mobility of teachers and staff and later (once the conditions are met) the students as well - Ensure good connections with partner institutions; - Develop and increase international research. University teachers already keep up an active research and educational collaboration with other higher education institutions, faculties and Universities as well as the research institutes at home and abroad, and they are well aware about the importance of sharing experiences, knowledge and ideas. The main objectives of the mobility project are: - Adding a European dimension to the College and its study program; - Improving the quality (both in contents and organisational) of the study programme - through the exchange of knowledge, experience and good practice; - The strengthening and expansion of cooperation with our partner institutions abroad; - Enabling an international experience to our higher education teachers and other employees, and thus accelerate their personal and professional development (and later, when all the conditions are met, enabling the same also to our students); - Improving the quality of teaching; - Improving the professional knowledge of higher education teachers and other employees; - Improving the understanding of other cultures; - Improving the attractiveness of our College for foreign lecturers and students as well as for foreign institutions to cooperate in the common projects; - Improving foreign language skills of the participants of the mobility projects. In the Mobility project in the program year 2014 participated: 1. Gašper Gantar – Dean and Lecturer 2. Gregor Pečnik – Expert from a foreign company The following activities were carried out during the project: - Call for applications for the mobility of teachers and staff; - Promotion of the program and motivating for the submission of applications (sending emails, postings on the website, presentations on meetings, for example The Senate, Academic Assembly, personal interviews ...); - Help mobile individuals to prepare for mobility (communication and arrangements with the host institution, documentation, assistance in travel planning and booking of accommodation, information on the conditions of mobility, financial matters, recognition after the mobility, cooperation in the promotion of the program ...); - Monitoring the mobile individuals during mobility (if necessary - regular contacts with the mobile persons and with the international office of the host institution); - Activities after the mobility (recognition of work at home institutions, promotion of mobility program); - Dissemination of the project results (publication on the website, presentations of the project and its results during lectures and various meetings, for example: The Senate, Academic Assembly, dissemination of results in the institutions that we work with in local and regional environment ...). The project has had an impact on both the individuals involved, as well as the institution and the environment in which the College is operating: The most important influences for teachers are: opportunity to test new teaching methods, improving language skills (English), gain important intercultural competencies, job satisfaction. Obtaining new and important knowledge (which is then transferred to the working environment at home institution), making contacts for future cooperation between the institutions as well as contacts to cooperate in their professional field. At the level of our institution, we have recorded the following effects: an increased internationalization of our institution and the study program, an enhanced cooperation with partner institutions and the transfer of best practices and knowledge, higher quality of the organization and higher quality of the implementation of the study programme, as well as adding an EU dimension to the College and its study program, and enable the students, who for various reasons are unable to take part in the mobility, a contact with foreign lecturers and experts from foreign companies.
