Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Erasmus+ exchange program is organized at the University of Tübingen by our International Office, Exchange Programs section - the central point for official exchange programs for both students and faculty. Outside of our Erasmus partnerships, the University has some 150 exchange agreements with other institutions of higher education, primarily in North America, Asia, and Latin America. Within Erasmus, we currently have around 700 inter-university agreements with some 300 partners. As the new generation of programs was phased in, we ensured that fewer active agreements lapsed and sought to create key new partnerships. Despite the changes, the rising trend in mobility continued in this transition phase to the new generation of Erasmus+. In the report period, a total of 476 people went on exchanges, 477 students and 29 staff (STA: 27; STT 2). We plan to expand in the area of STT mobility with the help of more widespread communication to appropriate forums across the university. Responses from students and faculties have shown that, at the EU level, a number of measures would be helpful, including harmonized semester dates, improved accreditation of ECTS points, and general recognition of the OLS test as documentation of language competence (without additional certificates and costs). In the area of STA, teachers have criticised what they feel is a high number of teaching hours. The Erasmus program overall makes a vital contribution to the goals of the University of Tübingen as set out in the Erasmus declaration - particularly promoting experience abroad for students and faculty, as well as creating attractive conditions for those who come here under the program.
