Higher education student and staff mobility project

As a school of translation and interpreting studies, it is important to enable as many students as possible to spend a period of time abroad. The aim of the placement is to improve language skills but also intercultural competencies as well as to give the students experience of business life. The students who took part in the Erasmus programme are from all three school years. During the project, most of the participants went on a work placement, in the UK, Ireland, France and Spain. In addition, one student spent a semester in the UK at the beginning of her second year. All participants were able to considerably improve their language skills as well as develop more understanding for the country and the people there. For many it was the first time that they have lived alone, and they came back more independent and self-confident. In the long term, the participants will have a better chance of being able to work as a translator and/or interpreter.
