Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Vincent Pol University in Lublin (Wyższa Szkoła Społeczno - Przyrodnicza im. Wincentego Pola w Lublinie) was realizing a project under the agreement 2014-1-PL01-KA103-000242 in the academic year 2014/2015. The project was realized in accordance with the rules of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and the conditions of the financial agreement concluded with the National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme. The aim of the project was to organize the mobility of the staff and I and II degree students. The agreement granted the possibility of realizing 75 mobilities such as STT-32, STA-2, SMS-13, SMP-28. Vincent Pol University made all reasonable efforts to organize and maintain the high quality of the mobilities. We aimed at encouraging creativity of the academic staff and students and at improving their expertise and skills. International cooperation, which is essential in developing a modern educational and research offer, enhances the quality and reinforces the position of our University. The main strategies of the University’s development involve the extension of the educational offer to the studies conducted in English, the development of the academic staff, the extension of the research scope, the publication of the scientific journals in English. According to the University’s Authorities, the internationalization is one of the major challenges facing the higher education. Therefore, our University is continuously developing and seeking new partners. We have taken a number of initiatives in finding new partners and therefore increased the number to over 50 partners. We have also gained partners from new countries such as Finland, Great Britain, Macedonia. The participation in the Erasmus+ programme has undoubtedly enabled us to develop the cooperation with the former partners and initiate the cooperation with new ones. This constitutes a vital part of the university’s development strategy. Vincent Pol University has endeavoured to promote the visits to different countries within the Erasmus+ programme. For example, the information about potential visits and photos, documenting the past mobilities, were posted on the Internet (university web page, social media) and on the our University notice boards. In addition, meetings with students were held at the beginning of the academic year to inform students how to take part in the programme. At the same time, the programme was promoted during VPU Open Day by the International Relations and Careers Office and students participating in the programme. Also, the recruitment and participation requirements and regulations were posted on the university web page. Moreover, our university promotes the visits within the Erasmus+ programme during the meetings of the Senate every year. At the time we give an account of the mobilities, realized in a particular academic year, and of the operations and joint projects undertaken during the meetings with the representatives of partner universities. The project exerted a significant influence on the development of the studies in English. At the same time, thanks to the strengthening of contacts and cooperation, there were twice as many students from the partner universities studying at our university as in the previous academic year. The new agreements allowed us to arrange lectures and workshops which will be conducted by the academic staff of the partner universities next year. We also initiated talks with the Authorities of some of our partner universities. They concerned the organization of periodic series of lectures or one-off events consisting of a week of workshops and lectures given by academic staff of the partner universities. Our university has been invited to participate in the Erasmus+ Sport project. Also, we have discussed the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degrees project. The visits to the partner universities allowed us to compare and evaluate the current curricula and familiarize with their infrastructure, teaching methodology or grading system. The subsequent conclusions contributed to the enhancement of teaching standards at VPU. The university, with the CETA Barcelona cooperation, has developed the joint curriculum and at the same time has debated the joint programmes with the universities in UK, Italy and Spain. Apart from long-term advantages associated with the increase in internationalization of our university, the staff improved their qualifications, expanded knowledge in particular areas, took part in trainings, etc. Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, the university created new opportunities for students who developed their skills and creativity that are crucial in the knowledge-based society. The mobility within the Erasmus+ programme undoubtedly supported its participants in meeting the challenges of the evolving job market. The study visit or traineeship allowed students to gain new experiences and improve both professional and linguistic skills. This, certainly, distinguishes our students on the
