Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Participation in the ERASMUS-Project is the base of our efforts to rise the academic mobility of the university community. Ultimately, we experience how physical mobility improves mental mobility. In this way it serves and strengthens the basic goals of academic development. Our activities have been in the classical fields of student and staff mobility. Participation in these activities is not obligatory in any of our programmes, nor for staff, so participants acted voluntarily, out of their interest, and the numbers still have a large potential for growth. The feedback of the participants is consistantly at a very positive level. Nevertheless, the dissemination to as yet non-mobile staff members and students is slower than desired by the universities' key players. The background of the majority of our students is generally known for somewhat reduced openness to mobility: many first generation academics, engineering students, rural catchment area. We strongly welcome the integration of language education and testing in the programme. In our experience it has raised the awareness of the necessity of foreign languages training. Lead by Quality Management considerations our internal objectives are gradually shifting from free/unspecific mobility between the partners to more structured/tailored mobility between the various programmes. This requires dedicated efforts of the teaching staff involved. Contrary to the new programme's objectives, its administration has not at all become less bureaucratic. The paper-bound, multi-signatory agreement has put a strong burden on our effectivity and we welcome ALL EFFORTS to make the programme organisation itsself more modern, simple to understand for potential users and paperless.
