At the end of the first year, the BTSA students in landscaping have got the opportunity to carry out their 2 month practical training in a landscape company located in one of the European countries. The content must match with the syllabus of the Ministery of Agriculture and the different compulsory modules of the training. The students must get an overview and being involved in all the different stages of the project work from conception to completion. Never ever the training should consist only in maintenance tasks. The creation of a project is highly recommended. In the case of the carried out trainings, the tutors were vigilant as to the list of aspects to be respected.
Apart from the tasks in the company, the students have ot find their accommodation, manage the daily tasks and get autonomous in a foreign environment. He or she prepares the journey, sets up a budget, sticks to the deadlines for the administrative steps. On the spot, he or she has to integrate in the working team. This adaptation is not always easy given the linguistic difficulties.
Back at school, these trainees motivate further students to carry out a similar experience, convice the technical teaching staff that the content matches with the syllabus' objectives, talk to the director in order to make him conscious that such a training abroad provides a real benefit in comparison with a similar training in France.
The students agree to create different communication tools, for example for the open door day, for the homepage of the school , Facebook. They become actor to talk about their experience during information session for future students. They download their report on the data base of the school.
