Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Ekonomska šola Novo mesto, Višja strokovna šola (School of Economics Novo mesto, Higher Vocational College) is located in the Dolenjska region in Slovenia. Since 2014 it has been included in the Erasmus+ Programme, KA1: Learning Mobility for Individuals in the field of tertiary education (KA103). Our College educates students and adults in the study programmes for business assistants, economists, and media production. The project objectives are as was follows: exchange of good practice (one student in the programme economist did his placement in Czech Republic, three staff members took part in staff mobility for training in Czech Republic - all of them exchanged their experience and knowledge with partner organizations); consolidation and use of language (the student and the staff strengthened their knowledge and use of English); learning about new cultures (they all met with the Czech culture - language, customs, traditions, history, sights, food, etiquette); promotion of our institution and individuals (the student presented and represented our college in the Foxconn company, the staff promoted our college by its presentation to the students and lecturers at Vyšší odborna škola Časlav); establishing links with companies (we reached an agreement with Foxconn, to accept our student for placement as well as to accept a group of our students and lecturers in the context of a field trip); for the purposes of implementing placement, we have established contacts with Bank Austria in Vienna, Akto S.A. in Athens, ISCAP in Porto, Collective Production in Prague); increasing employability of our graduates (the student has achieved the expected competences and increased his employment opportunities in the EU); increasing mobility (through the presentation of the experience gained with mobility in Czech Republic, we have increased interest in mobility for students and staff of the entire School of Economics); raising the level of general education (intercultural, digital, communication, language competences). At our College, a three-member project team is responsible for the implementation of Erasmus+. Through personal contacts with partners in other international projects, via websites and e-mails, social networks, and phone the team establishes contacts with potential partners for the purpose of mobility. At meetings, they provide information on the implementation of mobility to target groups (college students, secondary school students, staff, and other stakeholders), motivate, help with organization and disseminate results. The team also carried out preparatory activities for mobilities: cross-cultural preparation within the study subjects business communication and business foreign language; linguistic preparation within the course of a foreign language as well as individual lessons; refresher conversation course for the staff. Two places for student mobility for placement were available, however only one was used. One student in the programme economist, did his three-month placement in the multinational Foxconn. During his placement, he wrote his project task; upon his return he successfully passed his placement exam and gained the total of 14 credit points, according to the study programme. For staff mobility for training three places were available and all of them were realized. A five day staff mobility for training (the headmistress, a lecturer, the student affairs’ clerk) was held at Vyšší odborna škola in Časlav, Czech Republic. The student evaluated that he has fully acquired and improved all the competences foreseen in the Erasmus+ programme. The staff evaluated as lower the improvement of employment and career opportunities, the improvement of organizational and management skills, establishing of cooperation with the local community and labour market, improvement of the use of ICT and foreign language. All of them were very satisfied with the mobility, its results, obtained experience and knowledge. The impacts of mobility were as follows: based on the student's presentation of his mobility experience the interest in studying at our college has increased as well as in doing placement abroad; based on the presentation of staff mobility experience interest in staff mobility for training has increased; with Foxconn company we reached an agreement about the tour of their company for our students and lecturers; three students of our partner school - Vyšší odborna škola Časlav, came to our region to do their Erasmus+ placement – our college acted as a mediator in finding and establishing contacts with local businesses. We successfully promoted our local businesses who accepted foreign students to do their placement, as well as our school and our country in the multinational Foxconn and at Vyšší odborna Škola. All the accomplished mobilities proved to be a good promotion of our Higher Vocational College, the Erasmus+ project, the Dolenjska region and our country at the international level.
