Higher education student and staff mobility project

Vistula Group is a national leader in terms of internationalization among all universities in Poland. It educates over 2200 foreign students. The university successfully implements programs promoting international cooperation in the area of education, such as Erasmus+, Gruntvig as well as the project of the 5th EU Program „Euro Innovation Manager for CEE Countries”. In the 20 years of operating in the higher education sector, the University has built strong brand as an academic institution setting research and scientific trends in the field of social sciences and humanities. Undoubtedly Vistula’s strong asset are its relationships with the external stakeholders which have direct impact on developing teaching programs which consider competences needed on the labor market today. Representatives of institutions and corporations with strong position in Poland and abroad seat in the Business Council and actively participate in the work of collective bodies of the University. Teaching programs and curricula are reviewed by the representatives of the business environment. Besides representatives of external stakeholders participate in the execution of the teaching process by means of conducting classes independently or as guest lecturers. In reaction to the needs of the environment, Vistula Group creates and implements additional specializations into the teaching program. The Council highlights the need to support mobility of students and staff members. The University seeks to implement the ideas of entrepreneurial and socially responsible organization. It invests in educational innovations, actively supports its students and graduates in engaging in professional challenges. The University undertakes activities aimed at developing entrepreneurial attitudes. The University believes that thanks to its cooperation in the area of higher education on the European level it is able to meet its objectives expressed in the mission and strategy. The most fundamental strategic goals aimed at implementing development vision of Vistula include: improvement of the quality of education, internationalization, building relationships with business, public sector, local communities as well as developing sense of citizenship and intercultural competences. The University launched the following activities: 1) Improvement of teaching programs based on the practice of the best European universities, the latest scientific achievements as well as the key development trends in teaching, 2) Continuous improvement of the quality of teaching, development of didactic competences, support of scientific fundamental and applied research, engaging in research with foreign partners, 3) Teaching is aimed at addressing the needs of the modern world by engaging University stakeholders in its strategic development and operational activities, 4) Internationalization of the University by increasing of the number of foreign students and lecturers as well as cooperation with international business, 5) Improvement of the quality of teaching and building international recognition of the University by initializing processes aimed at obtaining best international accreditations. The results achieved so far in the implementation of the E+ Program in Vistula strengthen further development in many areas and influence the achievement of strategic goals. During the execution of the E+ special attention was paid to the proper selection of participants in mobility, program and educational conditions of the host organization. Recruitment of students for the SMS mobility takes place twice a year, SMP – once a year, STA and STT applications have been taken throughout the whole time the program lasted. Following number of people took part in the project: SMS – 35 students, SMP – 40 students, STT – 10 people, STA -4 people. The undertaken actions brought higher number of mobilities (89) in relation to the initial number stated in the agreement (43). University cooperates with partner institutions which guarantee achievement of the expected teaching effects as well as obtaining professional experience in accordance with the field of study. The total number of the signed bilateral agreement by the Vistula Group is 60 (these are among others universities in Portugal, Turkey, Croatia, Spain, Germany, The Netherlands and Lithuania). The University does not have a special program of studies for the disabled students but has special infrastructure. The University has a Plenipotentiary dedicated to people with disabilities who provides continuous support and care by individual contacts with students. Participation in the Erasmus Program enables its participants to adapt a much broader international perspective and enrich their knowledge and skills which have positive impact on their professional development. We would like to continue the process of exchange of knowledge, and experiences and we strongly believe it will bring long-term positive effects.
