Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project was a part of Erasmus+ Programme framework: Key action 1 "Higher education student and staff mobility within Programme Countries". Activities taken within the project have been realised in the period between 1st of June 2014 and 31st of May 2016. However mobilities have been concluded during academic year 2014/2015 and winter semester 2015/2016.The project included Student Mobility for Studies (SMS), Student Mobility for Placements (SMP), Staff Teaching Assignments (STA), Staff Mobility for training (STT). In the same period the University has hosted students and staff of foreign partner universities. Aiming to achieve the goals set by Erasmus+ Programme and chosen aspects of the Europe 2020 Strategy, PWSZ management has set the following strategic goals: - implementing of the European social policy aiming to enhance the horizontal social mobility of highly skilled professionals between EU member countries; - meeting the requirements of the European Higher Education System which aim to improve the internationalization level of higher educational institutions around Europe; - assuring the highest achievable level of quality in education and development of EU human capital by allowing students to conclude a part of their study programme abroad; - professional development of administrative stuff and improvement of management processes; - acquiring of experience by academic staff thought educating students within an international environment and thus helping teachers to ascend to higher academic degrees; - submitting to the processes of European integration through cultural exchange that accompanies long-term mobility of students and exchange of ideas that accompanies the academic discourse. 42 students have participated in the project (3 of them more than once). For SMS and SMP mobilities we can observe an equal representation of both sex, for 18 SMP mobilities we had 55,56 % female and 44,44 % male participants, and for 29 SMS mobilities it has been 48,28% females and 51,72 % males. These results prove that PWSZ in Piła is following the rule of equal opportunities for both sex. During the qualification process all participants have been undergraduate students (ISCED-6), however when starting the mobility 4 female and 1 male participants had the status of recent graduates. Within SMS mobilities 11 have been concluded by students coming from a disadvantaged background (54,55% of females and 45,45% of males). From which 10 mobilities had Erasmus had received “zero grants” and were financed from the Operational Framework Programme Knowledge, Education and Development, and only 1 of the mobilities has been founded from Erasmus+ grant. A total of 23 employees (9 woman and 14 man) have participated in mobilities within the Project, from which 10 stood for STA mobility (2 female and 8 male participants) and 13 for STT mobility (7 woman and 6 man). Amid the project participants amongst academic teachers dominate employees with and Intermediate work experience and for administrative staff with Junior work experience. The Project included SMS mobility with a minimum length of one study semester that allowed students to obtain the study outcomes planned for their study program in one of the foreign partner universities. The mobility has allowed participants to acquire additional soft competences. SMP mobility consisted of 60 day placements conducted in institutions abroad. Within this type of activity students have been able to conclude both compulsory and extracurricular work placements. Recent graduates have also been able to benefit from the later type of placements. STA mobility lasted from 5 to 7 days and where dedicated to academic teachers as teaching assignments in foreign universities. In addition to gaining experience necessary for scientific advance these trips allowed the exchange of views on various issues through academic discourse. STT mobility of administrative and functionary staff consisted of training in foreign partner institutions. Thanks to STT mobility administrative staff beyond gaining the ability to know the working conditions at the same position in a foreign partner university has raised their awareness for the need for internationalization of universities and accompanying issues. The project has allowed PWSZ in Piła to conclude a total of 70 mobilities with a total budget of 82 563 EUR. The most important long-term benefits of the project is the improvement of the quality of education in the University through the inclusion of foreign teachers to the educational process. Another important aspect the increase of attractiveness of graduates in the labor market while better preparation for entry into professional life.
