Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Education at INSA Rennes complies with the "LMD" European schema and is organised by the ECTS model. This system guarantees the academic recognition of the education followed in partner institutions abroad. All the outgoing students get a learning agreement signed by both INSA and the receiving institution. The credits they gather are required to get their degree. The diploma supplement describing the knowledge and skills acquired by our graduates is delivered. International mobility is compulsory for INSA students aiming at developing their open-mindedness and making them get new professionnal, language and behavioral skills. They have to validate an international quitus including a semester of studies or an internship abroad for 8 weeks minimum and they have to get a B2 certification of English language. Since 2014, the European and International Office team is composed of a Director, an International Office (a manager who is also the Erasmus coordinator and its LEAR, 2 officers dedicated to European and outside-Europe mobility, 1 officer dedicated to teaching and staff mobility among other duties), 15 international relations coordinators within the educational departments in charge of educational follow up of students) and 2 special advisers who deal with priority partnerships in strategic areas (currently Latin America and Africa). Our involvment in the Erasmus+ program fosters teaching mobility so that intensifies cooperation opportunities with European partners. Our best efforts are put on promotion of faculty mobility (teachers, researchers and PhD students) and on double-degree setting up in order to establish long-lasting partnerships. These two objectives will remain our priorities in the upcoming years. Regarding the 2014 - 2015 Erasmus+ project, the International Office dealt with 200 mobilities including 80% SMS, 14% SMP, 4,5% STA and 1,5% STT. The distribution of theses mobilities are quite representative of all the departements. Most popular destinations for all mobilities are Sweden, Hungary, Czech Republic, Germany, Finland and the United Kingdom. Credits academic mobilities are limited by the board of directors to one semester. The average length of time of the studies mobilities is 4 months while the average length of time of internships mobilities is 3 months. Teaching and staff mobilities are almost 7-day long. Teachers and staff members come from almost all the educational departments and have a senior profile. Both incoming and outgoing mobilities are keeping being encouraged in our partner institutions by our students, faculty and staff. Actually, we have created an "Ambassador kit" dedicated to people in mobility: participation to "Student fairs", francophile students identification, "crêpe" parties organization in order to represent the britton culture. Besides, students prepare their mobility thanks to 2 meetings a year driven by the Director of European and International relations and the International Office assistance. Informations are given through our website for incoming students and through our Intranet for outgoing students, and by the International Office staff. Any educational question is handled by the International relations coordinators. They are teachers specialized in each department also in charge of the international relations aspects. Destinations and scholarships are granted according to international boards held by the departments and the European and International Direction. Students validate the required ECTS credits for the recognition of their study period abroad and so validate their international quitus. We have succeeded in helping students with modest backgrounds thanks to our successful grant-attribution process. Mobility is a considerable asset in our curriculum and the Erasmus + project allows us to improve the quality and pertinence of our courses. Erasmus + grants are instrumental to motivate students to do internships abroad. We offer several double degrees with European partners. We have recently set up double degrees with UP Madrid, TU Dresden and Politecnico Milan.
