Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Apor Vilmos Catholic College is a practice-oriented institution which students can take up courses in the fields of preschool and primary school teacher training, infant and early childhood education, social education and ecclesiastical music. The college also offers courses in Romology, in ethnic minority studies in German language and specialized courses for post-graduate sutudents. In 2014 our college signed new inter-institutional agreements valid till 2020 through the Erasmus program with 14 partner institutions from 8 different countries. In the academic year of 2014/15 we had active relationships with 7 of our new partners. We generally have a good working relationship with our foreign partners. Through the student mobility program 12 students took part in mobility for studies in the following countries: Belgium, Germany, Denmark and Austria. Altogether 50.3 months were spent in mobility for studies. We had 2 students, one of them a post graduate, taking part in mobility for traineeships. They spent a total of 14 months abroad, in Italy and Denmark. 7 of our mobility program participants study to be preschool teachers, 4 to be preschool teachers and 3 of them study social education. 3 of our program participants had previously studied abroad through the mobility program. We had prepared an Information Day, with an eye to widen our students knowledge about the opportunities offered by the Erasmus program. Our students had also got individual help and practical advice. 70% of the participating students had certificates of their chosen subject language. 4 students did not have certificates, but both their oral and written knowledge of the subject language were tested. Our college, being an ECL exam centre, also offers a 120 hour foreign language optional module to the students for two terms. The returning students found the mobility program very useful, their accounts can be read on the college website. They all met the expectations, most of them obtained the credits required in their contracts. Our college has acknowledged more of these credits compared to previous years. The Erasmus Diploma Supplement summarises all the data of the mobility. Since at present in Hungary there are only such courses advertised as 'German ethnic minority specialisation' and 'English specialised cultural courses', there had been no inbound students. We are planning to start a preschool teacher training in the English and German languages in September 2016. In the academic year of 2014/15 there have been 10 Erasmus staff mobility for teaching, among them one foreign professional. There were 50 days spent altogether in the mobility program, an average of 5 days. The most visited countries were Romania and Germany and one of the participants went to Belgium and one to Spain. 9 people took part in the staff mobility for training; a total of 45 days, an average of 5 days. Most people went to Romania and Austria. The staff mobility for teaching and training proved to be fruitful as it helped improve professional skills and build international relationships. We have an established educational cooperation with a partner institution in Munich and we are considering to form a strategy partnership with a Vienna institution. We also launch a program together with the University of Winchester and has signed an agreement on cooperation of master's degree program with the Babeş-Bolyai University in Odorheiu Secuiesc. Last year there was one inbound staff mobility for teaching and one staff mobility for training. A Belgian teacher visited our International Week in March, which proved to be very successful with 21 student visitors, mainly from Belgium, Spain and Denmark. Mobility is supported by the fact that our college has been the member of the international organisation of GERFEC (Groupement Européen pour la Recherche et la Formation des Enseignants Chrétiens Croyants et de toutes Convictions) for years and also part of the international network of the Comenius Association, an organisation of educational institutions in 18 different countries aiming to develop the intercultural efficiency among European teachers. The last academic year our teachers and students took part in the different intercultural programs of these two organisations. Their reports can be read in studies, publications, lectures and on the website of our college. The international relationships resulted in several foreign lecturers offering to visit our college and more foreign authors publishing in our two international journals. By organising international conferences, publishing international journals (Katolikus Pedagógia, Szociálpedagógia) our college also offers the chance of demonstrating foreign experiences on a professional level.
