Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Higher School of Foreign Languages in Szczecin, founded in 2001, offers higher education at bachelor level in foreign languages - English and German languages. At present the ongoing studies are only in the extramural form. Currently, students have a choice of two specialization paths: teacher and translator. Joining the Erasmus + Programme our college enriched its offer in the field of cultural studies. This is in accordance with the development strategy of the College where, through the internationalization of education, we strive to expand students` professional and cultural skills. Thanks to the established international co-operation our course catalogues have been modified helping to improve the quality and relevance of the studies content. Programme participants recognize as being particularly valuable the results achieved from acquaintance with other standards of learning and work, lifestyle and culture of countries which they visited during mobility, which as they feel, contributed to better understanding and tolerance towards other cultures. Participation in the programmme also contributed to increased knowledge and awareness of the ideas of democracy on which the European community is built. Another achieved purpose pointed out by the students returning from mobility was the experience gained in an international working environment, which raised significantly their competitiveness in the domestic labor market / practical expertise and appropriate professional experience will allow the participants to reach out and qualify for attractive job offers / . In connection with the nature of the mobility / SMP/ students involved in the Programme raised their organizational skills, which increased their self-confidence. The achieved objectives also include the acquisition of other social competences, including the ability to work in a team, identifying priorities for action, self-awareness and ability to identify and solve problems. With regard to the nature of philological studies, an important skill that was improved by being in an international professional and cultural environment is the students improved linguistic competence. In addition, in the case of employees, international cooperation with educational institutions was established and developed. Owing to the mobility programmes our staff became familiarized with other forms of management and operation of educational institutions. The mobility involved a total of 4 people: 2 students for SMP and 2 employees for STT. Because of the extramural form of studies, students do not express interest in traveling for study purposes - this was due to their numerous professional as well as family commitments. On the part of the employees participating in the Program, only applications for STT mobility were submitted to the Admissions Committee. The first concerned the mobility of students, held a 2-month internship in the City Hotell Helsingborg, Sweden. The student had the knowledge of English at B2 / C1 level and the knowledge of the Spanish language at the B2 level; previously under private trips she worked for similar companies in Spain and Sweden. The interviews with the student and the questionnaires she completed after the mobility show that she has gained the knowledge and acquired skills in the field of services and hotel guest service. The second student participating in the program was on a 3-month internship in the accounting department of a transport company in Lübeck, Germany. The student holds a university degree in economics and in Poland she is employed in the company operating in a similar field. In addition to increased linguistic competence, as the final OLS test results show, she was acquainted with the operation of an international company: its regulations, international accounting, preparing agreements between companies. She also increased her ability to use advanced information technologies. The first staff mobility involved acquisition of skills necessary in the preparation and conduct of international youth exchange and in the creation of international educational programmes. The training lasted three days and took place at the Europa-Haus Brandenburg in Heidesee, Germany. The second mobility concerned the training of an administration employee. It lasted five days and was aimed at acquiring and improving language skills necessary to improve the skills and competencies relevant to the nature of her job – assistance in carrying out activities related to the Erasmus + Programme. The training took place at Edwards Language School, London. With regard to students, the long-term benefits of the mobility helped to improve significantly their professional and language skills. With regard to employees, long-term benefits include the impact of professional and cultural experience which they acquired during mobility on their competence and performance at work.
