Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The context of higher education in music is very specific because the very strong relationship between each student and his professor can be a barrier to mobility. Moreover, students often teach in music schools in addition to their studies, which is hard to do during a few-month stay abroad. Finally, students often commit themselves to artistic projects that they build upon for several years ; this also limits their wish to apply for international mobility. Nevertheless, the PESM Bourgogne, a small higher education institution with 110 to 120 students per year for a 3-year curriculum (approximately 40 students per class), endeavors to improve student mobility. Holder of the Erasmus Charter since 2010, the PESM wishes to improve European mobility with a medium term goal of a dozen student mobilities per yer (25% of a class). With 4 mobilities during the last 21,5 months, the trend is promising. In order to support students' mobility, we rely on the exchange of professors, currently one per year but probably more in the future, to strengthen educational links with our partners towards a better mutual knowledge of the courses and the students’ level. To learn more about our current or potential partners, we also encourage staff mobility since 2014. Two of our staff members met with institutions we seek to strengthen our links with.
