History and context IFE ADERE is an association for the development, teaching and research in Occupational Therapy. The aim is to train Occupational Therapists. It started in 1954 at the Hospital Necker Enfants malades and is one of the 2 oldest OT Institutes in France. Since the institute opened there have been an opening to international activities. Organised in alternation, le curriculum is organised in 3 years and correspond at 180 ECTS. Le curriculum changes in 2010 ( due to the law of July 5th 2010). It is a small Institution (175 students and a pedagogical and administrative team composed of 9 persons – 6 full time) we are offering an individual pedagogical accompainment also concerning the organisation of mobility. The objectives : Le Occupational Therapy profession is growing in Europe. In France the number of professionals has increased 86 % since the last ten years. It is imperative for IFE ADERE that students discover the european evolution and aquire knowledge and experiences from our colleagues. As futur professionnals the students are bearing innovative projects related to quality Occupational Therapy. It is important to follow the european development not only for professionnels but also for students. IFE ADERE works to obtain a mobility coperation in order to permit the futur professionals to benefit a quality curriculum with an international inspiration necessary to discover and encourage different european practices and concepts. L’IFE ADERE is persuaded that fieldwork mobility is a key point in the internationalization. The open-minded orientation is essential in order to offer students a participation in the international research and practice.evolution. Student profile 88 % of students are between 18 and 22 years. 88,5 % of students have at least a secondary school examination qualifying for entry to university (81,3 % in scientific orientation) and 11,1 % have a university title on bacchelor level from + 3 to +7. Those who have +7 are representing 0.4 %). After secondary school 55,7 % do a preparatory class to the entrance exam. 20,8 % of the students do a first year medecine study (PACES) in a university. At the ADERE institute an agreement with the University Pierre et Marie Curie permit to offer 15 places to students who suceeded the first year medecine study (PACES). 7,7 % of the students are admitted due to their background (Article 31 of the law of July 5th 2010). Concerning the social origin 34% of the students have parents from intermediary or employed professions, 33% from parents with a interlectuel superiour profession ond 23,9% from working class/ artists/commercial professions The entrance exam permit to receive students from all over France : 65% are coming from Paris and environment and 35% from all other regions in France. Certain students choose to enter IFE ADERE because there is a possibility to do Erasmus mobility which is not possible in all the Institutes in France. Description of realized activities In IFE ADERE we propose essentially mobility in fieldwork. The fieldwork in clinical practice is fully a part of the curriculum. We have tried since the last 2 years to create study mobility but with several obstacles : a huge disparity in the organisation of the teaching in Occupational Therapy in Europe (3 or 4 years according to the countries), refusal from universities to make agreements, congruence between financial demands and student demands, knowledge of the language. Actually very few countries organise teaching in english so that students who will benefit from a student mobility should talk the language of the country : spanish and german are being teached in France but danish and nederlands are not for example. We continue to search and establish cooperations and in order to advance the coordination of demands and offers we ask already the first years students of their interest in mobility. Results and impacts We notice that students are doing an international mobility (fieldwork, congresses, or other) take more initiative to do international projects (as humanitarian work, continuing studying…) after the Occupational Therapist studies. The benefits seems to be a larger autonomy and they become more open-minded and get more confidence in speaking other languages.
