The 2014- 2014-1- ESO1-KA103-000420 Project, managed by IES Benjamín Rúa aims to be a distinctive value in our students´ teaching-learning process, focused on offering the possibility of a training period of apprenticeship on enterprises from European countries. In addition it also enables our school staff to take training courses within the European Union. Our mission: “We are a State Vocational Training School offering Quality training and guidance. We form highly qualified professionals, competent to deal with the ever changing challenges of the European socio-labour environment, working closely with leading companies from different sectors” Our vision: “To be considered one of the most efficient State Specific Vocational School in the Comunidad de Madrid. Our students and their families, as well as various public and private institutions involved in the learning process, praise our efficiency and our innovative spirit, the highly professional competence reached by our students and our commitment with the improvement of the Quality of Education and respect for the environment”. In 2005 we started working on the presentation of a Leonardo project which was granted to us, and allowed the mobility of students for the first time in 2007 –our project was nominated for the quality of mobility award in 2008-. Afterwards we began to work with the Erasmus programme as we obtained the Extended Charter for Training as well as the Standard one. Currently we enjoy the Further Education Charter ECHE until 2020. For all these reasons, we regard the Erasmus programme as an embedded feature of our school. Aims of the project: • To enable the project beneficiaries to improve competences such as autonomy, ability to relate to others, responsibility, initiative and flexibility to adapt themselves to new labour markets. • To reinforce the participants’ language skills. • To acquire essential knowledge for their professional profile. • To establish relationships with productive entities of European countries. • To collaborate to the promotion of free movement of workers within the European Union by introducing the students and the school staff to the current labour and cultural environment of other countries. • To strengthen the links of our school with institutions in its surroundings. Number and profile of the participants: 5 students took part in Erasmus mobility programmes in 2014- 2015 academic year. 3 health care students - Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory, Prosthetic Audiology and Environmental Health vocational cycles- and 2 Electronics students - Eelectronic Maintenance and Telecommunications and Computer Systems vocational cycles-. No staff mobility programmes were carried out. Activities carried out: Firstly the school organized information sessions to ensure the diffusion of the project among the whole educational community. All the information was published on the school webpage, bulletin board and also by celebrating a Mobility day to summon participation of students, teachers and school staff. Two selection processes were convened; one for the students willing to take part in training courses in working centres (FCT) an other to provide apprenticeship to recently graduated students. 12 students applied and 5 were finally selected. - 4 mobility projects were for students doing the FCT module whereas the other was for a newly graduated student. Detailed description of the activities: - 2 Electronics students did their training in the United Kingdom. Their internship period lasted 90 days, from Mars to June 2015. - 2 Health Care students did their training in Ireland. It also lasted 90 days, from Mars to June 2015 - 1 Environmental Health student did her apprenticeship as newly graduated in Ireland. The experience lasted 71 days, from July to September 2015. - No one from the school staff applied for a mobility project. The school managed the grant funds and the learning agreement of all the participants. Regarding the results of the project, all the students achieved positive assessment of their work as their training certificates show. The four FCT students were able to obtain their degrees. In addition all the participants were given the Europass Mobility Certificate. All the students strongly valued the experience in their final reports which were uploaded to the Mobility Tool webpage. Every student taking part in the project will probably improve his/her chances of getting a suitable job. Furthermore, thanks to the success of the activity our school will enhance its potential to gain further experience in the management of future programmes.
