Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) has been participating in European student mobility scheme since the launch of the Socrates program. SSE applies for student and staff mobility as well as traineeship. This is a new way of reporting our mobility activities within Erasmus+ which we think it leads to improvement of the process. With the start of academic year 2014/2015 SSE launched an information campaign to increase visibility of the Erasmus+ and the benefit of participating in the program’s different actions. We succeeded to register the first student for Erasmus traineeship and increase the number of participants for studies. As for staff mobility SSE renewed the homepage for staff mobility and staff training and informed the staff on the possibilities within Erasmus+. For call 2014 SSE awarded by NA a budget of 187,270 € for mobility. Because of the quality requirements of our programs and to keep the high standard of our education, our bilateral agreements, including Erasmus agreements, are selectively chosen. SSE is a small school with one subject area, namely business and administration. This has led to competitiveness among our students to gain a spot of mobility via SSE. Both graduate and undergraduate students participate in mobility and we are very aware of the gender aspect within Erasmus. We arrange several meeting to promote mobility, before, during and after our selection process, for graduate and undergraduate students separately. SSE follows a selection process with different qualitative and academic criteria. Therefore our outgoing students are very motivated and top students. The ultimate goal of our internationalization effort at SSE is to create an international environment for both staffs and students where diversity is actual, creativity is promoted and innovation is facilitated. Erasmus is a cornerstone in helping us to plan to reach these aims. At SSE the incoming students participate in introduction days organized by Student Mobility Team (SMT). The students are introduced to the Swedish Education System, Swedish way of life, brief history of business life in Sweden, guided tour in Stockholm, a lecture on multiculturalism, trip to the exotic northern part of Sweden and other activities organized by our Student Association. Incoming students are very important for SSE. They are facilitating diversity, indorsing internationalization at home and maintaining the balance of student mobility so that we will be able to send more students in the following semester.
