Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Project 2014-1-ES01-KA103-000352 aims to establish a solid structure that enables students and staff of the University of Oviedo to spend a study or training period at international institutions of higher education in Europe. The activities during the mobility would depend on the characteristics of each program. Thus, students will experience the benefits of studying abroad, getting academic recognition of his/her studies and being exempt from paying tuition fees at the host institution. On the other hands, they will improve their language skills and will have the opportunity to know other cultures. Staff mobilities would help both professors and administrative personnel to improve their language and cultural skills. These type of mobilities will serve to exchange experiences with the staff from other European universities in order to develop good practices at their home institution. The University of Oviedo has a long tradition participating in the Erasmus+ program in all its modalities, and it is currently the main tool of international exchange for students and staff. Thus, the Erasmus + program contributes significantly to the internationalization of our institution and provides learning and training opportunities to a large number of students and teaching and non-teaching personnel. It facilitates a permanent contact with students and staff from other European uniververdities, and enables the exchange of experiences and the implementation of good practices in the context of an enriching multicultural and multi-lingual context that contributes to strength the links between the countries of Europe. This year, the total number of participants from the University of Oviedo in the program was 627, being student mobilities those that reached the highest percentage (539 students), followed by traineeship mobilities (55) and staff mobilities for teaching (29). The number of non-teaching staff mobility has been, however, quite small (4). The popularity of Erasmus+ program at the University of Oviedo consolidates the interest of our institution in this initiative. Each year the number of agreements and the number of participants is bigger. In the last few years, agreements with Eastern European countries have increased significantly, contributing to establish relations with countries in this area and contributing to social and economic development. The aim of the University of Oviedo is to promote increase the implication in the different activities of the Erasmus + program, so that our institution may be able to improve the collaboration with other universities in Europe.
