VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava presents itself as a university open to international cooperation both in the fields of instruction and research. The mobility objectives realized within the Erasmus+ Programme were to enable our students to gain new experience at foreign universities as well to improve their language competence. As for the staff mobility, the objectives were divided among developing their professional excellence by acquiring practical experience abroad, making progress in spoken interaction and using their knowledge at different places of work. Involved in the mobility programme were undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students (students of the Bachelor, Master and Doctoral study programmes). The total number of participating students was 172 (140 students participated in study stays and 32 in internships). As for the staff, 138 university teachers were involved in the teaching programmes at foreign higher education institutions and 38 people took part in the training programmes abroad. The description of the realized activities is as follows: SMS – one or two semesters spent at a foreign university SMP – research activities, help with project coordination and logistics, market research, maintenance and servicing of a company computer network, technical drawings processing, PR support, accounting, creating of marketing analyses, analysis of contaminated soil and its reclamation, organizational activities; STA – teaching at partner universities, monitoring of outgoing students, university promotion, comparing of present curricula of individual universities for the needs of creating new curricula in the succeeding academic years, writting joint publications, collaboration on joint projects STT – mobility administration training, study paperwork, international cooperation, further development of the scientific command, making new international connections and subsequent cooperation; All students fulfilled the set study requirements and obtained the required number of credits. Of greatest mobility benefit to students was especially the necessity of study in a foreign language. Further benefits include students´ independence, improvement of their communication skills, comparing of the teaching methods among the universities. The staff profited especially from the exchange of experiences and the ideas worth spreading with their foreign colleagues and pools of experts. The gained knowledge can be utilized in their work at their home university. The participation in the mobility programme is a part of the professional career profile of an individual university teacher and is positively rated. The staff also benefited from the improvement of their language competence. The proficiency in foreign languages is necessary for the instruction at their home university. From the long-term point of view the benefit for the students is especially for their future career at the labour market. For the staff it is establishing of new contacts and the subsequent cooperation with foreign universities and institutions as well as gathering of new experience and information, which can later on be implemented into lecturing and tutorials.
