Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Erasmus+ project was aimed at implementing Erasmus+ student mobility, traineeship, teaching assignments and staff training. Kazimieras Simonavi?ius University sent 15 students to study abroad, 2 students to perform traineeship, 9 teachers to deliver lectures in partner Universities and 27 academic staff for trainings. In total, 53 participants had been sent. According to given data in the report, we can see that Erasmus+ student mobility for studies and staff training are prevailing mobility formats. If we compare the statistical results with the previous years, the number of outgoing academic staff under Erasmus has been growing rapidly. Over one academic year from 2013/2014 to 2014/2015, the number of outgoing academic staff increased more than four-fold. Stable growth of the number of academic staff coming to the University has also been observed. The growth of international mobility allows to create more dynamic, varied and international study environment, new knowledge (lecture cycles) and initiatives (e.g. Erasmus Mentors programme). Incoming and outgoing students are provided with comprehensive information about studies, results recognition, with the support form mentors and curators; events to facilitate integration and to prepare for the mobility are organised. Students are choosing the study programmes of foreign universities which correspond the best to their own study programme. Students can choose among 75 Erasmus partners of the University. Taking into consideration the participants' profile, the University selected the participants with high profile, who have a lot of potential, are hard-working and aimed to achieve results. After analysing the data below, there were no participants with special needs or graduates that did a traineeship abroad because the University has a low number of students / academic staff with special needs. When it comes to the graduates' figures, we should note that it was the first year when the University sent Erasmus+ students abroad for placements. The University generally lacks experience in organising graduates traineeships abroad. Kazimieras Simonavicius University is a young member of Erasmus+ programme. The University Erasmus Charter was awarded three years ago. Since then the University has constantly concluded agreements with Erasmus partners. Teachers are encouraged and they actively use the opportunities of Erasmus exchanges for teaching and qualification development. Moreover, if we take into account the gender issue, as seen from the Table No. 6.2, the females are more active in performing different Erasmus+ activities, especially in student mobility for traineeships / studies. However, the distribution of gender is almost equal in staff mobility for teaching. Nevertheless, females predominate almost twice in staff mobility for training. In conclusion, women are more active in taking part in Erasmus+ programme. One of the most important indicators of the success of Erasmus+ project is the percentage of the overall satisfaction of inbound / outbound students which is given in the Table No.7.2, i.e. the overall satisfaction of inbound students for studies is 100 % and the outbound students for studies is 92 % whereas the satisfaction with traineeship of outbound students is just 50 %. In total, the University sent just 2 students for traineeships. However, the University can be proud with the result that 100 % of staff for teaching and training (outbound and inbound mobility) were very satisfied or rather satisfied with their mobility experience. While analysing the last year's Erasmus + project results, we would like to look at the impact of mobility on staff. With regard to impact attained by teachers, we would like to note that 100 % of teaching staff reported the development of new learning practises or teaching methods, gaining sector-specific or practical skills relevant for their current job, also, the improvement of foreign language skillls and increase of their social, linguistic and / or cultural competences and extension of their professional network. Thanks to Erasmus+ programme, the teachers claimed that they enhanced their employment and career opportunities, organisational management / leadership skills, learned from good practises abroad. As regards the impact of mobility on staff who participated in trainings, 100 % of them reported that they have learned from good practises abroad, 92 % of them claimed that they have extended their professional network and gained sector-specific skills. Also, 81 % of respondents have increased their job satisfaction and enhanced their organisational / management / leadership skills. In conclussion, most of the inbound / outbound participants benefited from the Erasmus+ programme and the programme had long-term results for the institution and participants.
