Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

In the framework of the Socrates Program before and of the Lifelong Learning Program after, the internationalization policy has always been a dominant strategic objective in our Institution's life, involving all sectors from research to didactics, from the organization of degree courses to the mobility of teaching and administrative staff, researchers and students. Erasmus cooperation agreements with the Higher Education Institutions participating in the Program have been constantly increasing reaching a number of 650 in the academic year 2014-2015. Our Institution has among its main goals the development and implementation of international project, the creation of an European Space of Research and of an organized cooperation network aiming at activating first, second and third cycle degrees of international value. In the agreements with partner Institutions our Universities establishes the common research and/or didactic sector, the method of exchanging teaching and administrative staff and students, on a basis of reciprocity; some agreements include activities aimed at implementing common degree courses, others plan the realization of integrated research projects and the transfer of technical and scientific skills. The beneficiaries of our Institution’s strategy of internationalization and of its actions regarding inbound and outbound mobility are mainly bachelor and master students, totaling about 900 outbound and inbound students per year, including mobility for study and for traineeship. University is planning to invest resources also in the development of postgraduate exchanges (our University is already counting many international double-degree phD courses), and the mobility of researchers and teaching staff who, by means of these activity, can give a fundamental contribution to the monitoring and implementation of international agreements and of joint academic qualifications with prestigious European Higher Education Institutions (list available at: http://www.unifi.it/vp-10522-corsi-di-laurea-internazionali.html). To promote the participation in research and cooperation programs financed by the European Union our University informs and supports professors and researchers in the following activities: information on the Calls regarding didactics and research and diffusion of the relevant documentation, drafting of guidelines and other documents related to the participation in the project, planning and organization of Information Days and courses, publication of web pages dedicated to international projects and mentoring and support on application procedures, recording of grant agreements and conventions relevant to projects financed by the European Union and dissemination of the results obtained by the participation to approved projects. Our Institution strengthens and develops international cooperation with partner Institutions outlining administrative procedures for setting up Bilateral Agreements (Erasmus and non-Erasmus) coordinating, supporting and monitoring international programs promoted by the University, by the Ministry of Education or other Institutional bodies. Our Institution finances with its own resources and funds coming from the participation in EU programs to promote exchanges in the framework of didactic, scientific and cultural cooperation agreements, organization of lectures by visiting professors and welcome to foreign delegations. The implementation of the above mentioned strategic policies of internationalization will allow our Institution to give a contribution to the modernization of the higher education system, increasing the qualification level of students and researchers, the exchange of good practices and, through the connections established among higher education institutions, research institutes and enterprises, to promote the development and foster the level of excellence of Region as a whole.
