Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project we recently completed was a project of HEI students and staff mobilities to the so called program countries (according to terms used in the Erasmus+ program). The aim of the project was organization of a set number of mobilities to institutions in the program countries. Students and recent graduates were offered an opportunity to carry out their mobilities in form of placements in various institutions, most often enterprises. Student mobilities for studies in partner HEIs in Erasmus+ program were not planned. Our staff were offered an opportunity to carry out their mobilities in form of training in various institutions – HEIs, enterprises etc. (this was available for all HEI staff). Academic staff mobility for teaching in partner HEIs in the Eramus+ program were not planned. Such a manner of planning of mobilities stemmed from the prior experience we gathered in the LLP-Erasmus and from research of training needs among our students and staff. Within this completed project, 15 mobilities in total were planned: 7 student mobilities for placements in the program countries, and 8 staff mobilities for training in institutions in the program countries. The number of mobilities was later increased to 19 total, however specifically only the number of staff mobilities for training was increased. Eventually, 18 mobilities total were carried out. All completed mobilities took place in compliance with program approved prior to the mobility (prepared in the form of LA or TA), and all planned aims and effects were achieved. Mobilities of duration shorter than planned were not recorded. In the end, in the category of student mobilities, 5 students and 1 recent graduate completed 7 mobilities for placements in the program countries. These beneficiaries represented various areas of education in the first-cycle programs: Informatics, Environmental Protection, Management and Industrial Engineering. Among these 6 beneficiaries, 2 persons had not participated in the Erasmus program before, whereas the other 4 persons completed mobilities within the LLP-Erasmus and Erasmus+. Among these 6 beneficiaries, there were 2 females and 4 males. In the category of staff mobilities, 6 staff members completed eventually 11 staff mobilities for training in HEIs and enterprises. Among these 6 beneficiaries, 5 persons were academic staff (lecturers), whereas 1 person was our central administration employee. The academic staff represented various area of education in our institution: Environmental Protection, Management, Management and Industrial Engineering. All beneficiaries had had prior experience within the LLP-Erasmus and Erasmus+. Among these 6 beneficiaries, 4 were females, and 2 were males. Actions taken to complete this project included in the first place preparation of recruitment rules and financing rules for various mobility types. Next, an advertizing and promotional action among our students and staff took place. It was executed by our Erasmus+ Coordinator, in collaboration with our authorities and academic staff (e.g. information about the program provided during classes). Persons interested in participation were offered comprehensive information about possibilities offered in the Erasmus+ program. In the qualification process, the following was considered: GPA (applied to students), command of foreign languages, prior experience in the LLP-Erasmus and Erasmus+ (priority was given to new participants), prior collaboration with the Erasmus+ Coordinator and support for incoming Erasmus students, as well as quality of mobility plan (student placements or staff training) and expected results of mobility. Persons qualified to participate in Erasmus+ mobilities were offered support at preparation of the mobility, during the mobility, and later – at the stage of final clearing of the mobility. In the process of beneficiaries’ qualification, the rule of non-discrimination and equal treatment was employed. In the academic year 2014/15, we accepted 6 incoming Erasmus+ students from our partner HEIs who completed one or two semesters of student mobilities for studies. In general, Erasmus+ mobilities participants achieved almost all expected results, both in the area of development of their professional, and language and social competence, which generated benefits for our institution, as well as in the form of better educated graduates who are better prepared to enter the European labor market, and in the form of competence development (including the language one) among the academic and administrative staff in the institution. In the long-term horizon, the fact of commencing new contacts with institutions and maintaining and strengthening already existing contacts should be especially appreciated – these were possible through preparation and execution of mobilities with partners in the Erasmus+ program countries.
