Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The National Academy of Art is the oldest Institution for high education in the field of visual arts in Bulgaria comprising two faculties - the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Applied Arts. The main objective of the Academy is training of professional artists with creative personality and style, with new aesthetic ideas and concepts, artists who have mastered the competences and skills to perform complex tasks, The structure and essence of the subjects taught at the Academy is largely determined by the dynamics of visual arts and the continuing differentiation of their shapes and variety. In recent years, the learning process has been updated with a number of programs (especially MA degrees) and structural changes as a result of which the students are offered an extremely wide range of high qualification training courses. Diversity in training is based on a combination of basic, special and general education subjects, corresponding to the specifics and the objectives of each course/speciality with the possibility of personal experiments and solutions. The combination of traditional and innovative methods of the educational process has been characteristic of almost all stages of the history of our academy. (see web site: www.nha.bg) In this context, the Academy will continue its efforts to enrich learning opportunities through the main instrument for the modernization and internationalization of education - student and staff mobility by complying with the criteria of quality and principles of the Erasmus Charter of Higher Education. The Academy has been working successfully by organizing mobility of students and teachers under the exchange programme since 2001. At present there are 57 Inter-institutional Agreements signed under ERASMUS+ program with program partners from North, Central and Southern Europe - England, Ireland, Finland, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Hungary, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy as well as some Balkan countries - Greece, Romania and Turkey. Our goal is the long-term partnerships we have built on mutual understanding and trust to be translated into an increase in the quality and volume of student and teacher mobility, in the promotion of professional, inter cultural and social skills of our students and teachers, and adequate use of jointly created conditions for mutual enrichment and innovation of learning as well as updating of training programs. We fulfil between 98 - 100% of the approved number of mobilities and the budget. The Erasmus programme is popular among our students and teachers and each year we have applications from excellently prepared students and qualified teachers for the exchange.. Every year in January we organize a wide informational campaign on Erasmus, after which we organize our selection procedures. All outgoing/incoming students/teachers are provided with the required under the program documents in due time. The programme is managed by a qualified, long experienced team from International Relations Department. The International activity of NAA is also closely linked with our Erasmus+ partners: - International research projects such as the annual "Summer Academy - Ahtopol - International Symposium on Wood sculpture" with the participation of teachers and students from EU and non-EU countries, with the support of the municipality of Ahtopol. Finished sculptures designed by teachers with the participation of students become part of the art gallery and museum exhibition in the creative premises of NAA in Ahtopol and the results are published on CD and in NAA yearly books; - Participation in international biennials and art festivals, organized and hosted by the Academy as the Biennale of Students' drawing 'and' Digital art Festival as well as the international project Transform – a student exhibition and scientific conference on art education and world trends in the visual arts co-organized by the academy, with the participation of 9 academies / universities for art education in South-east Europe (Turkey, Greece, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia). TRANSFORM is planned as a long-term project, hosted on rotation principle. With its activities the project builds a strong platform for cooperation between the partner institutions. NAA hosted the second edition in 2011. A catalogue and research reports were published. Information for all events is published on the website of the academy. The expected results are increased attractiveness of education and increased number of highly qualified graduates, bachelors, masters and doctors who can successfully sell their expertise and skills on the European labour market. Academy is committed to high quality standards in every aspect.
