Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Corvinus University of Budapest (CUB) agrees with all the overall priorities of the Erasmus+ (E+) Program announced by the European Commission, and using the opportunities provided in the program, seeks to contribute to the achievement of the objective to create a high level of employment and productivity and strengthen social cohesion in the EU and the member states. CUB defines itself as a research-oriented higher educational institution, where the academic performance of the professors can be measured by international standards, and where students can obtain a degree which is competitive and recognised on the global labour market and competes with degrees which provide similar education. In order to achieve the aim: competitive university ? outstanding and successful students ? future employees with marketable skills, the commitment for internationalisation to be laid down in the EPS is necessary, as well. By launching foreign language courses, training programs, joint and double degrees, and extending the services provided for participants, from the beginning of the 1990s CUB has placed great emphasis on the fact that more and more university citizens could have the opportunity to participate in different mobilities financed by the EU. CUB?s foreign relations, which are worldwide and significant, provide an opportunity for this. Using the relationships established more than two decades and the resources provided by the EU, more and more outgoing and incoming participants have been able to join the program since 1998. CUB supports all types of mobility (student mobility, internship, teaching and administrative mobilities, both outgoing and incoming) offered by E+ KA1. Instead of 505, 607 participants took part in the program in the academic year 2014/15. 417 outgoing and 520 incoming students participated in the learning mobility program, and 129 students completed internship abroad. 41 professors visited the partner institutions with the purpose of teaching, and 20 administrative staff members improved their knowledge within the framework of Staff Weeks organised by partner universities, or participated in intercultural, language or professional trainings. An intercultural Staff Week for foreign partners was organised by CUB, with the attendance of 46 members. The university has achieved a remarkable result especially in student mobility at national level. Comparing with the original plans, outgoing learning mobility has increased by 21%, which was due to announcement of a new, second call for application for students. The number of incoming students has also been increasing dynamically from year to year, thanks to the reputation of CUB and the increasing number of courses and study programs offered in foreign languages. The number of students remained on the same level of previous years. Enlargement of numbers can be achieved by expanding the existing capacities. The quality improvement of education has been realised by obtaining international accreditations (EPAS, EAPAA) and by co-operating in international professional networks (CEMS, PIM, IFLA). In the frame of service development, CUB has created an online system to manage the outgoing and incoming student mobility, assured the opportunity to develop the language skills of CUB Library staff, improved the intercultural sensitivity of colleagues dealing with foreign students, made the dissemination (workshop) of foreign training mobilities and promoted the E+ Program (Erasmus Expo, information materials for outgoing and incoming students, posters, etc.). Regarding the personal and career development of the students participating in the program, a study abroad semester has a great relevance. It improves their opportunities on the labour market, but the majority of students also reported that in addition apart from the professional knowledge, their self-knowledge and adaptability has also developed, they became more open towards other cultures and more confident. On their return, they also influence other student?s by promoting and transferring their knowledge acquired. Some of the professors gave lectures via university joint programs which were held at partner universities, thus strengthening the university's relationships and strategic partnerships. For the younger professors, it is a great opportunity to test themselves teaching in a foreign environment, and to build professional contacts meanwhile. Participants with study related purpose expanded their professional relationships, got acquainted with good practices. Regarding the long-term impact of the program with the aims laid down in the strategy, the university may reach a higher level of internationalisation. This equals with the growth of the outgoing and incoming students and professors, and the increase of the level of services. As a result, this leads to the higher recognition of the diploma and the program, and to the improvement of the graduates? career opportunities.
