Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project has enabled us to send 4 students and 2 staff members on mobilities over 2014-2016. Three students from the short course "BTS" Manager's Assistant were sent on two-month work placements, two in the UK and one in Spain. One student from the Hotel and Catering department of our school did a 3.5 month work placement in a hotel in the UK. The work placements are compulsory parts of the course of these students, but they can be carried out in France. We encouraged students to perform them abroad by organising a meeting during the first term. This meeting was compulsory for all students from the Manager's Assistant and Hotel and Catering Departments. A Powerpoint presentation by the coordinator and student presentations aimed at showing the benefits of a mobility in the EU for their future, the Erasmus grants available, the application procedure and selection criteria. After this meeting, the follow-up and support was ensured mostly by the language teachers, and the teachers in charge of work placements in each class. We received 7 application files from the students which were complete and contained all the requested documents. Not all the students had found a work placement when we had to submit the intermediary report, but we chose to ask for 7 grants (we had only been granted 4 in our initial contract). Unfortunately, despite our efforts, 3 students ended up not finding their work placement abroad. We communicated to the school's personal about the opportunity Erasmus+ offered them to do mobilities through different means. First of all, in September, when all teachers were gathered at the beginning of the new school year, the coordinator explained the Erasmus projects to the whole team of teaching and non-teaching staff; then an email was sent to each staff member, and finally the letter was posted in the teacher's room and on the bulletin boards of all the locations of the school. Two staff members applied and benefitted from an Erasmus+ mobility, 5 days each. Their objective was to improve their English skills and they chose to attend a one-week course by a school located in Cardiff, Wales: We-bridge Academy. This school was known to us through a long-term partnership we had with a placement. The two persons were very happy about this experience and we will surely renew this type of mobility with other staff members in the near future.
