Geographically situated in the center of the European Union, the University of Udine is a point of reference in a region which is historically a meeting place and crossroads of different worlds and cultures. Since its establishment in 1978 as multidisciplinary university, we have pursued the policy of internationalization, aimed at preparing “international” students and forging relations and partnerships with universities and institutions in Europe and the rest of the world. Central to the achievement of our vision of an international university are the benefits derived from working collaboratively. Our international partnerships facilitate and support staff and student mobility, student recruitment, developments in teaching and learning, collaborative research and capacity-building. In 2015, a detailed strategic plan focused on internationalization has been adopted with allocation of resources. The University promote international mobility since the first recruiting steps (during Open Days, Fairs, Meetings) and takes advantage of its research and migrants networks all over the world. International mobility is an added value for students and the University demonstrate its strong institutional commitment creating equal opportunities for students. This goal is achieved offering additional financial resources and assistance to disadvantaged students thanks to grants offered by Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and private funds. A process of agreements reviewing have been started and it is still active with the aim to select those ones are the best for the students. A strong work has been done to make clear the vote transfer acquired by the Erasmus student. To enhance mobility flows more opportunities have been created for students. Great attention to traineeships in enterprises in Europe and in Extra Eu Countries, new calls for research for thesis mobility worldwide, fundraising to increase mobility available budget central in this years of economic crisis and finally a creation of a career office.
