Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Since 2004, ESA Saint-Luc Brussels has developed an international strategy via the Erasmus + programme, Belgica and the establishment of bilateral agreements with art schools throughout the world beyond the EU (Canada, China, New Zealand, etc.). The purpose is to fight against all forms of discrimination and xenophobia, but also to encourage interculturality and a sense of belonging to Europe. Each year, some 10% of our third-year students follow part of their studies abroad or in Flanders. We also welcome many foreign students, moreso than the number of those outgoing. This brings a rich and vibrant multicultural environment to our school, a particularly significant contribution to artistic education. Our teachers are also encouraged to experience international teaching or training through sort mobility programmes. To achieve this, the Director and two staff members form the mobility and internationalisation team, which proposes a personalised service to each mobility. Impacts are multiple and very positive. First of all, incoming and outgoing mobilities place our school in a globalised educational environment which benefits the entire student community. Mobilities have also been the opportunity to reformulate our educational programmes according to European standards. This internationalisation also enables all of our students and teachers to open up to a global diversity (languages, foreign curricula, different and sometimes innovative teaching approaches, exogenous cultures etc.). Finally, for those who have already undertaken a mobility, we see a stronger intellectual curiosity, an intercultural experience, the integration of alternative learning methods and a true capacity for self questioning.
