Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The University of Genoa has taken part in the Erasmus Programme from the beginning, promoting student and staff mobility through agreements signed with many different international Partners. Our University is working to improve the qualitative aspects of the project, to increase the number of students, teaching and administrative staff involved in mobility and to disseminate the main values of the Programme such as exchanging and sharing experiences and ideas. For the a.y. 2014/2015, outgoing students were 565 (152 for SMT and 413 for SMS),while outbound staff were 24 (17 STA and 7 STT). Interinstitutional agreements are based on professors’ proposals of cooperation. In order to promote, to monitor and to better organise all aspects of mobility, according to the University internationalization policy, the Rector nominated a vice-Rector for International relations. He presides over the Commission for International Relations (CRI) and coordinates its activities, supported by the Representatives of the Departments and Schools for International Relations. The Representatives monitor in greater detail the qualitative and quantitative aspects of the mobility in the areas of competence. They are also joining links among the academic coordinators, the international offices and the students. As to students’ mobility for studies, one of the main aims of CRI is finding Partners, whose course catalogues allow our students to find study programmes that can integrate and enrich their curriculum at home University. Particular attention is paid to the number of credits that students can acquire at the host Institution. During the last years particular attention has been paid to monitor in/out flows of each Interinstitutional agreement to assess in detail their impact and potential. Students’ selection is based on specific and transparent procedures. Erasmus activities are managed, at a central level, by the International Mobility Service, in particular through the International Mobility Office and the International Students Office (SASS). The Service also coordinates the activities of the Erasmus offices in the 5 Schools of the University. The International Mobility Office deals with administrative and financial aspects of students’ mobility. The Erasmus Offices of each School, the academic coordinators and the Course Boards deal with didactic aspects starting from Learning Agreements to the recognition and the registration of the activities carried out abroad in students’ career. The University of Genoa has an increasing number of participants and receives their positive feedbacks, thanks to the commitment dedicated to the improvement of the quality and organization of the Programme. Thanks to the Erasmus Programme our University has increased the number of contacts and developed new cooperations and projects. The structure of the Erasmus Programme inspired the organizational keys for all other types of mobility.
