Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our project to develop international experience at LaSalle Beauvais is going on according to planned steps regarding student mobility. New international partnerships have been created in order to increase the academic offer and the choice of destinations in parallel with the LaSalle other projects dedicated to research and corporate relations and in link with Région Picardie (actions on Asia, US) and the Ministry of Agriculture (actions on Canada, Argentina...). Our participation to international projects such as BRAFAGRI, BRAFITEC, ARFAGRI, EPBC strategic partnership... coming from different organizations allow us to be proactive at an international level. Our communication strategy to students is also fruitful (several information meetings, International Forum, databases, individual interviews to advise students...). Thanks to these actions, we went from 82 study mobilities abroad (Europe and outside Europe) in 2013/2014 to 97 study mobilities in 2014/2015 and a forecast of 132 in 2015/2016. To note, a similar growth for internships abroad (e.g.: for Erasmus+: 46 internships in 2013/2014 and 54 in 2014/2015). Regarding Erasmus+ mobilities, LaSalle made all the efforts to benefit most of the students possible in study and internship mobilities by modulating the allocated budget in order to increase flows within our Erasmus+ network. This increase in mobilities shows the interest of students for an international experience and results of students surveys and reports on their experience are very satisfactory and encouraging. Financial support from European Commission is undoubtedly essential for the sustainability of theses figures. LaSalle mobilizes its efforts in order to develop, for student mobility, the offer of double degrees that still remains weak. New destinations such as China are being prepared in parallel with the offer of new intensive classes of Chinese language to students. Our improvement focus remains the teacher and staff outbounds abroad and inbounds employees of companies, but above all teacher outbounds for which LaSalle is looking for areas of improvement in order to promote more mobilities. The number of international incoming students has increased as well: from 75 in 2013/2014 to 79 in 2014/2015. LaSalle is realizing its objective to develop new programmes taught in English in order to bring more attractiveness to international students in Life Sciences study areas and thus to internationalize its campus. Our Master in Plant Breeding taught in English started in September 2014 with 9 students for whom tuition fee financing comes mainly from company sponsorship. Moreover, we are studying with eligible partners the opportunity to submit a project of international credit mobility for next year. We are also working on the launching of a new programme taught in English "Spring Semester in Water & Environmental Management" that should start in 2016. The preparation of diversifying courses in English in some specializations taught in French in Geology (in 4th and 5th years) is planned as well in order to facilitate the reception of international participants (students and teachers) and thus balance exchange numbers with partners. Thus, LaSalle is in a growing dynamic and is already realizing a part of planned objectives corresponding with its international strategy while working strongly on the development of the other medium and long term objectives.
