Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Institute of Fine Arts of Besançon (ISBA) implements a strategy of international development with the goal to improve the quality of the courses and implicitly the career of its graduates and its research strands. The international mobility scheme is part of this strategy of development. The international mobility is compulsory at ISBA for the French students and optional for the foreign ones (considered already in mobility) accepted in the first year of the Master degree. We encourage the academic and administrative staff to imagine international projects and enrich their research work with contacts worldwide in the framework of the research poles: "The Body of Artist", "Printing" and "The Social Contract". In 2014: - 18 students beneficiated of an Erasmus grant for their mobility (studies and internships in countries partners to the Erasmus programme); - 6 members of the academic staff beneficiated of Erasmus grants; - 1 member of the administrative staff beneficiated of a Erasmus grant. Other students choose destination outside the European programme (China, Canada, USA, Switzerland). Given the geographical position of the ISBA we have felt rather strongly the impact of the suspension of Switzerland from the programme especially concerning the internships. We reached the goals set (supporting the mobility of our students) and the impact on our students was very positive (some wished to continue their projects started during the semester abroad, others established interesting contacts and networks). The students, despite economic issues linked to the low levels of financing appreciated the opportunity to learn and work in a different environment, discover new networks and establish new partnership with pairs, professors and professionals in other countries.
