Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Participation in the Erasmus system and actively promoting the inter-European mobility of our students has been one of our major priorities since signing our first charter in 2008. Given the size of our school (between 180 and 200 undergraduate diploma students) our 2014-16 programme has been satisfactory overall. We have achieved 9 mobility placements: a one-week teacher placement in Germany, 7 student study placements, two of which were for 2 semesters, and also our first work placement abroad. ESAM Design offers two specialist diploma courses: Interior Architecture and Graphic Design. The 8 study and work placements are fairly well divided between them, five students coming from the first course, and three from the latter. Concerning our quantitative and qualitative objectives in terms of partnerships, we have signed agreements with two new establishments: Istanbul Teknik Universitesi (Turkey) and Universiteit Antwerpen (Belgium). Discussions are in progress with Escuela de Arte de Sevilla (Spain), ESA Saint Luc (Belgium) and we were finalising an agreement with Plymouth College of Art up until the British referendum result on 23rd June. The teacher placement at the Hocheschule für Technik in Stuttgart consolidated our partnership: this year we welcomed one student from this school and sent them one of ours. Finally, without there being a direct link with ERASMUS +, we have been members of the association CUMULUS since April 2016, which is the biggest global network of art, design and media schools. Joining this network will undoubtedly lead towards the creation of new partnerships within the ERASMUS + framework. Among the already measurable benefits, 85% of our students who participated on Erasmus exchanges during these last two years, are planning either to continue further study or start their careers internationally.
