Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Erasmus+ 2014 project that the Ecole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon participates in, responds perfectly to the international policy that the establishment has been developing for a number of years. Having been a participant in this programme for quite some time, the school is a higher education establishment, involved in european and international policies and very active when it comes to transnational mobility. The Ensba Lyon is committed, through the Erasmus+ project, to making a contribution to the modernisation and improvement of higher education across Europe. To do this, the school has committed itself to taking all of the measures necessary to facilitate the mobility of project participants: students, teaching and non-teaching staff, so as to favour an insertion that is at the same time social, professional and civic. The general strategy of the Ensba Lyon, one that closely articulates geographical, artistic and pedagogical criteria in its choice of partners, implies precisely determined objectives, being: the development of partnerships in strategic zones (46 bilateral agreements established), the optimisation of inter-institutional partnerships presenting a major artistic and pedagogical interest for the establishment, the implementation of professionalising partnerships, with structures other than educational ones (distribution, production, residency...), the development of the level and use of foreign languages, and particularly the English language, in addition to the professional insertion of young artists. With regard to student mobility, Erasmus+ grants have allowed 16 students from the Ensba Lyon to benefit from european financial support, with all of them enjoying an international experience. 5 students from the Ensba Lyon chose to benefit from the wealth of teaching available in the establishments of our academic partners, while the remaining 11 directed their choice towards a professional experience in a company or public structure within the framework of an international internship. The students participating in the Erasmus+ Programme are mainly 4th year (DNSEP) students for whom international mobility is integrated strongly in their academic career. Students from short cycle options (DNAT) in second and third year benefit from Erasmus+ internship grants, with the goal of validating a period of professional experience that is essential for the obtention of their diploma. In first year and beginning in the second semester, students aiming for outgoing mobility have access to language classes and tests before their departure, thanks to new European financial support (the OLS platform). Parallel to this, the Ensba Lyon welcomed 11 students from other European establishments who participated in classes and workshops within the school. To better prepare staff mobility the Ensba Lyon has heavily invested in a training plan, focusing on English language training for all teaching, technical and administrative staff. Two teachers benefited from this staff mobility and the application of the 2014 subsidy to both export their knowledge, and benefit from different technical and pedagogical methods. The outgoing mobility of our students (study and internship) are validated by 30 ECTS credits for students benefitting from mobility equivalent to one semester with credits that correspond to the course descriptions for DNAT students. Students who take advantage of mobility return with a wealth of cultural, technical, social and professional knowledge. The different, related, experiences allow each participant to, in addition to improving their foreign language skills, better know themselves and others. The results can be seen upon the student's return and, of course, during the presentation of diploma projects where their international experience is always noticed and often praised. On a more long term level, students and staff participating in the Erasmus+ Programme have improved interpersonal skills, and the encounters generated by the programme can be a vector for personal, professional and networking opportunities that benefit each stage in a career, and thus benefit greatly the establishment itself.
