Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Context and background of the project: Our school is a Secondary School where Higher Level Vocational Training is also offered. Among the basic guidelines of the center we include the promotion of European spirit in all its aspects. In this context, we considered advisable to give the possibility to vocational training students to carry out their internships in companies of another EU country getting skills that can´t hardly reach in their own country. In that sense, their bilingual education in higher education also contributes to that goal. Goals: Not only for the participant but also for the rest of parties involved in the project, that is the receiving company and the sending institution, conducting work placements abroad achieves several goals: Regarding the participant it is intended to: - Increase her fluency in European mobility by losing her fear to move freely within the EU - Improve her skills in the working language, in this case English. - Learn about other business cultures different from the country of origin´s. - Interrelate with young people from other EU countries to observe differences and similarities. Concerning the receiving Company: - To Know the professional skills of young students from other EU countries - To increase the knowledge of other language different from the one of the destination country. - To have additional support to the daily work of the company. Regarding the sending institution: - To increase European concern in the rest of fellow participants, even reflected in "in situ" visits of some of them. - To share the experiences of the participants in the talks which the participants are asked to give in subsequent courses. - To improve the language skills of students and teachers involved in the project. Number and profile of participants A student of Vocational Training/Higher Education. Administration and Finance Course Description of the activities carried out. The student developed administrative work in a funeral services company, covering all aspects related to her training: supplies, sales, accounting, personnel, use of Microsoft Office .... She also participated in several cultural activities supervised by her labor tutor in the company. Results and impacts obtained/expected long-term benefits. In the case of this particular student, integration into the company and the environment was spectacular. She connected perfectly with the company culture and with the guidelines of the Executive Management up to the point that she continues opening new markets and making commercial work for the company here in Spain a year after her stay. It also serves as a bridge for certain contact issues that the sending institution should have with the company. In the linguistic area she also experimented a rare evolution. Comprehension and speaking skills improved exponentially. It is true that the extrovert character of the student and her huge relationship with the environment facilitated that improvement. Relations with the host company are now stronger, enabling collaboration for further years, as it is demonstrated in the current year in which we have located further students in that company.
