Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Context and background Our institution?s participation in the Erasmus+ programme is part of our overall of modernization and internationalization, which is based on the cooperation with other European institutions, namely, Higher Education Institutions, Arts Colleges and companies. Our institution has been participating in this European programme for three years by promoting both students? and teaching staff?s mobilities in Europe. Our institution offers two degrees in artistic studies: Product Design and Graphic Design. The former is offered in Tomelloso, Ciudad Real at Antonio López Arts School. The latter is taught in Ciudad Real capital at Pedro Almodóvar Arts School. Objectives. Our main objective has been to establish links with European Higher Institutions and enterprises so that our students could have the possibility to combine their period of studies at our institution with periods of studies in other European universities. In this respect, they would benefit from the acquisition of new contents and project methodologies. Likewise, we have established contacts with European companies so that our students would do their internships in product design and graphic design studios. These contacts have also enabled our teaching staff to take part in mobilities for training, being our priority to let them benefit from the possibility to get fresh training in an European context, getting in touch with the demands and needs of a design firm in Europe. Number and profile of the participants. Four students in the Product Design Course for student mobilities for studies between Programme countries. One teacher in the Product Design Course for staff training between Programme countries. Two teachers in the Graphic Design Course for staff training mobilities between Programme countries. Description. In this project we have collaborated with three companies, one in the Product Design business in Italy and two in the Graphic Design business in Germany and Poland for STT. Through these mobilities we have managed to get our staff in touch with the labour market in an international context where they have been able to develop competences and technical and practical skills, which has had a wide impact in their students. Likewise, these mobilities have let our teachers to keep-up-dated in how these type of design studios work, know the current design software used by them, understand the nature of the relationship established between the studio and the client so as to put it into practice in the classroom and get to know the projects they are working on currently. On the other hand, two of our students in their third year of the Product Design course have participated in student mobilities for studies during the whole academic year in Italy and Portugal. Another two students in the Graphic Design course have taken part in student mobilities for studies during the whole academic year in Romania. Results and impacts obtained, as well as benefits in the long run. This period of studies in other European institutions implies an added value in their training as students, having a direct effect in the way students benefit from an educational, linguistic and cultural point of view as a result of their learning experience in other European countries. In the long run, the students? possibilities to enter in the labour market will be widened. As far as the staff training mobilities we have carried out, we would like to stand out the fact that these have contributed to the improvement of our staff personal and profesional competences. Besides, they have also had a positive effect in the acquisition of practical skills. In the long run, the transference of knowledge, competences and experiences between the company and the teachers will be promoted. This will affect the elaboration of the new teaching programmes and therefore, it will have a final repercussion in the whole group of students. To sum up, we have contributed to the creation of a young community of students and future professionals who will be well-qualified, open-minded and with international experience in the design fields. On the other hand, we have enabled our staff to learn from the transference of knowledge and competences and acquire practical skills.
