Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

- Context and background to the project Virgen de Gracia Vocational Training School, in Puertollano, has been a beneficiary of European projects (both Leonardo da Vinci and Higher Education) for several years. It is the main goal of our school to give our school community the opportunity to expand their professional knowledge and improve their skills in foreign languages. In previous years we had only made mobilities of students to do traineeship, obtaining a more than satisfactory result for both our students and our institution. In the 2014 call we saw the possibility of extending our experience in European programmes and we applied for mobilities of staff to do traineeship. Thus, we give another dimension to our project: the enrichment of our employees professionally and the improvement of their communication skills in other languages. - Objectives Student Mobility for traineeship - Improving our educational offer, expanding the opportunities of our students to do their work placement in foreign companies. - Improving their professional skills by putting into practice the knowledge acquired at our school. - Improving their social and communication skills, leading to a better preparation for the working environment. Staff Mobility for training - Improving our educational offer by training our staff. - Improving communication skills in other languages. - Establishing partnerships with other educational institutions at European level, in order to prepare for possible future projects. - Number and profile of participants Student Mobility for traineeship Two higher education students: a Higher Technician in Management of Sales in Commercial Spaces and a Higher Technician in Managing Network IT Systems. Both students had a good level of English and their academic performance was very good. On a personal level, they showed great interest in expanding their professional knowledge and having an enriching experience living in a foreign country. Staff Mobility for training Three teachers from the professional family of mechanics. These teachers showed a great interest in taking part in a Job shadowing training period at a school similar to ours, learning how their same subjects are taught in other European centers. - Description of the activities carried out Student Mobility for traineeship The activities of these mobilities were based on the students’ training programs. Alvaro Segura Soriano (a Higher Technician in Management of Sales in Commercial Spaces) was focused mainly to help the promotion of marketing products or services with the development of proposals for customers, with the billing process and the search for new customers. Fernando Mauricio Sacaba (Higher Technician in Managing Network IT Systems): his activity was mainly determining the technical characteristics of the installation from the functionalities and identified needs; participating in the design, implementation and maintenance of facilities services using local network and Internet, documenting the intervention; and giving assistance to users solving operating system problems, according to the rules and timelines. Staff Mobility for training These three mobilities carried out Job Shadowing activities in schools in Ivrea (Italy) and Setubal (Portugal), within the Department of Mechanics. - Results and impact obtained and expected long-term benefits. The objectives set for this 2014 call have been met. Our students have successfully developed their Traineeship period in a foreign company, improving their personal, professional and social language skills. Our teachers have developed observation periods at foreign institutions, leading to a reflection on their own methodology and academic knowledge. As for the expected long-term benefits, while developing this project we have created collaboration networks with other institutions with which we intend to participate in future projects.
