Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Konservatorium Wien University successfully participated in the Lifelong Learning Programme and was able to carry out numerous mobilities and intensive projects. Due to the very positive experiences, the institution decided to also participate in the Erasmus+ programme to continue and deepen the exchange of knowledge and experience with its partner institutions. The mobilities in Key Action 1 are an important basis for the internationalisation of the institution. The institution established a network with over 100 partner institutions, including the most renowned music and performing arts universities from all over Europe. Because of the membership in the AEC (www.aec-music.eu) the university is in permanent contact and exchange with all relevant institutions related to music and performing arts. STA mobilities are already an important factor for the Konservatorium Wien University to enrich the areas of research, teaching and learning and the departments can offer master classes and workshops of high quality with state-of-the-art teaching content. In the past academic year the institution could realize 14 outgoing and 11 incoming STA mobilities. All participating teachers are held in high esteem and thus the students were greatly benefitting from their teachings and lectures. A focus was on contemporary classical saxophone literature in the different national schools and forms. Another emphasis was the intensification of the cooperation of our keyboard department with our Eastern European partner institution in Sofia. The institution is considering the STA mobilities as a crowd puller for further SMS mobilities and also for identifying partner institutions and further cooperation projects in Erasmus+ KA2. In this regard STA mobilities function as a key element of the internationalisation strategy. In the field of SMS mobilities the institution could accept and welcome 17 incoming students and could send 8 students to its partner institutions. All applying outgoing students were able to find a study place at one of their favorite partner institutions. Two of our opera singers were invited to sing a leading part in the major opera production (“Il viaggio a Reims”) at the Sibelius academy in Helsinki. The annual opera production is an essential part of the opera master study and the institutions agreed on a long term cooperation in student exchange, which is a great opportunity for the exchange students, especially in terms of further employability.
