Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The programs of GSCM have been created so as to integrate a strong international dimension. In order to graduate, all of the students have to spend a part of their program abroad, this can be either studying or internship. For the student from the Master Grande Ecole program, it is compulsory to spend a full year (two consecutive semesters) in a foreign partner university during their curriculum. For the academic year 14-15, 362 students, from all programs, have benefited from a study period abroad. Amongst them, 120 studied in a university that is participating in the Erasmus + program, and were thus allocated the Erasmus + grant (which represents 33% of the students studying abroad). The success rate is 93% for all of the students and 98% for the students within the Erasmus+ program. Students profile : - 92% of the students are from the Master Grande Ecole program, and spend the second year of their program in a partner university abroad ; - 1% of the students are from the Master Grande Ecole program and are spending their final year of studies as double degree seeking students at Master 2 level in a foreign partner university ; - 7% of the students are from the “Chargé de projets marketing et commerciaux à l’international“ program RNCP title level II, and are spending the final year of studies as double degree seeking students at L3 level in a foreign partner university. The objective of the study period abroad is to develop international skills both for students and graduates from GSCM, which will facilitate their employability either in France or abroad, as employers expect the students and graduates to already have acquired this skill. The GSCM decided that the study period abroad should not be shorter than one academic year so as to allow students to discover in depth another culture, to master a foreign language for something other than polite conversation, and being able to adapt to any different environment. The study period abroad is made without extending the whole duration of the program : the courses studied and the credits obtained in the partner university are transferred and capitalized in the program at GSCM towards the completion of the degree requirements. The most important effects noted by the participants in the Erasmus + program are a greater capacity to adapt and react to new situations, and the ability to cooperate with people from different cultures and environments, which can be noticed during their last year of studies at GSCM, where 30% of the cohort are international students, and where a lot of group work is required. The Erasmus + funding also allowed 4 students, during their internship abroad, to receive a grant for 6 months each.
