Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The State Conservatoire of music "Antonio Scontrino" in Trapani submitted a mobility project and carried it out fulfilling the original objectives. Aims. The objective of our institution is to enable a wide network of exchanges with institutes/universities and economic partners abroad in order to satisfy European requirements for internationalization and strengthen the training and work skills of our students and staff. The conservatoire encourages the participation of students and staff to Erasmus mobility, considering that the internationalization process play a key role in raising the standards and overall quality in an institution. Priority. Considering the guidelines of the Erasmus + Programme, Bologna Declaration and Lisbon Strategy, we aim at contributing to mold a cohesive European Union, both in the field of education and in the field of employment and economic growth. With the insertion of the mobility activities within the Erasmus + Programme, our Conservatoire has contributed to the fulfillment of the following priorities: increase exchange opportunities for students and staff; improve quality of the services offered; encourage the experience of mobility for traineeship as well as for study purposes; establish a growing cooperation with other Higher Education European musical institutions; activation of clear administrative procedures for the improvement of exchange standards within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme; disseminate the principles of the Erasmus + Programme through our internet website. Impact on the process of modernization. In line with our institutional strategy, the Erasmus Policy Statement and the Higher Education Modernisation Agenda, with the mobility project Erasmus+, our Conservatoroire has contributed to the attainment of the following objectives of impact on the process of modernization: improvement of the quality of teaching and research training, in order to equip graduates with the academic knowledge and transferable skills they need to succeed in high-skill occupations; creation of a network of institutions/universities and companies in order to provide more opportunities for students to acquire additional skills through study or traineeship abroad; enabling effective administrative mechanisms through transparency, visibility and internal communication; encourage the mobility for students, teachers and administrative staff; use of ICT (Information and Communication Technology), for networking events and audio/video recordings and the communication between partners; increasing the number of academic graduates. Quantitative targets. The mobility made with the awarded grant were slightly higher: 10 on 8 provided (2 more staff mobility, one for training and one for training). Namely: 1 mobility for traineeship, 4 staff mobility for teaching assignments, 5 staff mobility for training. 4 more staff mobility flows were made by the Consortium Erasmus SuedNord, of which our Conservatory is a member. Implementation. All phases of the project have been cured by the Erasmus Office. Regarding the network of the institutions involved, it has strengthened "historical" partnerships (Malta, Krakow, Weimar, Corfu, Brussels) and opened new inter-institutional agreements (Albacete, Helsinki). It organized documentary procedures, from preliminary documentation to transmission or acquisition of regular reports, confirmation of stay, letters of interest. Management procedures concerning the participants were treated in various aspects: information and updating of courses offered (in Italian, in the didactic section of the website); preparation of the financial agreements and the agreement for the participants (for training, teaching and training), recognition of mobility activities carried out by counting the hours mobility - Teaching or training - as a service, based on the agreement of mobility. Participants were supported by Erasmus in finding attachment useful in filling out the documentation, in making contact with the host institution, in the preparation of the necessary supporting documents. Dissemination. The results and experiences were shared at the local level: among students, through the students' council and assemblies; among staff, through the collegiate bodies and meetings of departments. At national and international level: through the website; in meetings and seminars organized by the Italian National Agency Indire and the European Association of Conservatoires (AEC), participating in various platforms for sharing experiences and European best practices in the field of music.
