Higher education student and staff mobility project

The context of the Project Learning Mobility of Individuals continues the realisazion of Erasmus by Iuav since its origin and it is that of an Institution which has undertaken its partecipation in the circuits of European higher education as a primary strategic aim for its scientific and didactic activities contributing to enlarge the definition of excellence.Through the mobility of teachers, staff and students, trainees, phds, recent graduates Università Iuav di Venezia has achieved one of its quality objectives which consists of being one of the places that contributes to the creation of lifelong learning within European Higher Education Area.To experience the effectiveness of instruction gathered in different contexts has allowed to increase substantially the awareness of the quality of his own education received and level of knowledge acquired.The project involved the mobility of 212 students of the 1st and 2nd cycle,89 trainees among whom even doctoral students and 8 recent graduates,13 teachers with seniority from few to several years of experience,6 staff participants coming from international relations, press office,libraries and archives. Different participants demonstrates that Iuav invests in learning/teaching/training opportunities through mobility for all members of its community.In order to carry out mobility bilateral agreements and/or letters of intents were signed between Iuav and partners after verifications by the pro-chancellor,tutors and the staff of International Relations and Master and Career Services: they verified that the partners’ educational proposals could be compatible with Iuav’s ones.The Iuav network of partners has more than 150 public and private institutions that are located in most European countries.Calls for the mobility of students, trainees,doctoral students,recent graduates, teachers and staff were published.The selection of students was based on academic merit and knowledge of foreign languages, in addition to those criteria the selections of trainees included also letter and/or motivational interviewing, staff candidates were assessed on the teaching or training programmes proposed to be agreed with the host institution. It was promoted the participation of economically disadvantaged people and with disabilities. After the selections administrative procedures were carry out in order that the participants selected were accepted by host institutions and they could receive the grant. At the same time Iuav International Relations Service approved the nominations of incoming and communicated useful information to prepare the arrival at the University.The welcome day was organized with the presence of buddies and other foreign participants of other mobility programs for a full inclusion of incomings in an international and stimulating city as Venice and its Iuav University. Before and during the mobility incoming and outgoing students and trainees could took advantage of the indications received by the tutor responsible of the bilateral agreement/letter of intent.The students/trainees with the help of the tutors elaborated learning agreements or learning agreements for traineeship which were approved by host organizations before the arrival: these agreements included adequate learning choices pursuing learning outcomes coherent with those expected in the course of study the students/trainees belonged. Immediately there was the guarantee that the credits earned according to LA or LAT were recognized and transferred to meet the curriculum requirements for the title. Credits acquired were transferred to the career of outgoing students/trainees according to LA/LAT, changes and if they were certified in Transcript of Records or Transcript of Work. When these participants obtain the degree, their mobility will be certified in the Diploma Supplement, too. Simultaneously ToRs were issued free of charge for incoming students when they left Iuav. Before the mobility Iuav teachers agreed on a programme including the contents of their lesson in the host university. On the contrary Iuav staff elaborated programmes relative to the best practices in which to be trained abroad.The results and impact of the project are demonstrated by the knowledge and the soft skills acquired by participants through the exchange and comparison with higher education institutions of European countries. They experienced stimuli and teaching models different and complementary to those received in Iuav. Thanks to these experiences surely they will be able to meet the local and global challenges of the current job market.In this way the Iuav ‘s operativeness within a network of European public and private institutions represents an enrichment of its educational offer in favor of the regional, national and international communities.This project is producing long term benefits for Iuav because the interaction with the European system of education is its major driver for its innovation and renovation
