Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

At the Second University of Naples, the Erasmus + Programme is managed in a local context characterized by the distribution of the Faculties on five locations, including the provinces of Naples and Caserta. Unfortunately, the University does not have a campus and a further difficulty is the lack of an efficient system of local links. Another limit is represented by the small number of facilities reserved for receiving those numerous participants who require to carry out their teaching and / or research activities. Because of these structural weaknesses, in the previous years the University was not able to activate its own language centre, so it had to charge an external company with the task of providing free courses of Italian language to foreign students who chose the Second University for their mobility. The improvement of the educational offer in order to strengthen the attractiveness of the University with respect to international competitors. Starting from 2004, the Second University of Naples adopts the system of conversion of credits earned abroad, according to the criteria of ECTS table; at the moment, we are studying a further update of that system in view of an adjustment to new general guidelines taken at European level. Another aim is linked to the development of the Erasmus + Programme in order to reinforce the employability of our graduates outside the national borders. The number of participants to the Erasmus+ Programme (students, professors and researchers )has increased exponentially thanks to the co-financing of the University that has integrated the scholarship awarded by the Erasmus+ European Agency so as to produce a substantial increase of participants. A further advantage has come from a wider dissemination of information on the Erasmus + Program, thanks to better advertising on the University website and to social network pages managed by the International Office. The cooperation of teaching staff that always guarantee full assistance to the mobility students with regard to preparation of their learning agreements for study or traineeship, which is mandatory in order to carry out their activities in foreign Programme Countries must be underlined too. Besides, the role played by those who have completed their mobility period in the previous years in terms of support is also fundamental. During this academic year, the University has also proceeded to renew and increase the number of partnerships with foreign Universities thanks to the implementation of new services in terms of administrative support for housing and for issuing of visas and residence permits. With regard to the longer-terms benefits, there are several datas that confirm the Erasmus+ Programme improves the job prospects for participants. For example, many of those students who carried out mobility activity for traineeship have been offered position in the company that hosted them. Moreover, after graduation, many Erasmus students prefer to change their country of residence or work at least once and observe the experience gained abroad and good language skills are appreciated and required for future job prospects.
